Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

Hello -
So today I received an email from Run Disney that if I want to be considered for a proof of time for the Half- that the race result proof needs to be submitted by Oct 3. When I registered in Feb I submitted it back then, and when I checked my registration today it still shows up there. Just curious if anyone else submitted a proof of time for the half marathon and also received an email today?

Trying to figure out of it was just a generic email to everyone in the half, or if I got one because they don't have my proof of time on file. I emailed them so should hear back by Oct. 3, but in the meantime just curious since I know there will be 1000s of runners, and I am hoping to finish close to the front- so that proof of time will really help to get a better starting corral.

Thanks

It's a generic email. I have a POT submitted as well and received it. You'll never get confirmation of acceptance of your POT until you receive your bib number and then corral assignment. I would suggest taking a screenshot of your POT information in the runDisney registration. In case of a mis-seeding on corral and mistake on their end, they've been known to correct their error when shown proof otherwise at runner's relations at the expo.

And for anyone that didn't get it.

Thank you- that's good piece of mind. And good idea of the screen shot I'm going to do that as well! Just in case-

I just received this from them- THAT WAS FAST!!

Hi Charles,

Thanks for reaching out. The email you received was a friendly reminder from runDisney to ALL registered participants. Based on your registration, you did submit the 2022 Naperville Half Marathon. Unless you update it, this proof will go into the verification process once the October 3rd deadline passes.

Have a magical day!

For those thinking ahead to next year - the 2023-24 Club runD details came out today, and they confirmed that we get advance registration to 2024-25 races, including the "2025 Disneyland half marathon weekend" - which is listed after WDW marathon weekend and before Princess weekend, so we might have a repeat schedule next year?

I know many were hoping for a fall DL race... I would just love a DL race that isn't the weekend directly after WDW marathon weekend.... I'm doing both this year but I don't think I can swing that next year!

Yeah, I’m thinking about my first Dopey in 2025, so I definitely can‘t do a whole second weekend of races right afterward.

Yeah, based on that I would assume a repeat of the schedule, right down to MLK weekend being used. Would be nice to get another weekend but it’s entirely possible there are logistical challenges, most notably involving Anaheim but possibly others too.

Not sure what my plans will look like next time, aside from tentatively being scheduled for NYC again. Don’t think doing both WDW and DL is feasible for me. I’d *like* to do WDW two months after NYC but I’m uneasy about committing myself to two marathons in two months. We'll see! A lot of time to decide.

Any one ever flown into/out of Long Beach Airport? I still haven't book any flights (slight case of self-sabotage?)
Yes! We’ve done it before and will do it again in January. Very small airport so really easy to get in and out of. A few min longer drive than SNA but if it’s cheaper it’s worth the cost savings for us

I'm flying into LAX, but flying out of SNA. I only took LAX because that seems to be the only airport with direct flights from MCO. Breeze suspended their LAX-SNA flight after early October until sometime in February.

I'm thrilled to hear this. I've been gearing up to do Dopey to Dumbo in 2025 and I was a little worried that they might shift the race weekends. I know that it still isn't 100%, but it is a step in the right direction.

I was hoping to do the same, but I twiddled my thumbs too long on booking the flight home out of SNA and it went from $350 to $700 one-way :scared1: So now I booked a flight out of LAX to at least have something, but I'm really hoping I can switch over to SNA. I just flew out of LAX via Delta a few times this month and it was far improved from what I remembered (didn't wait at all for security or bag drop) but that Uber from Anaheim can take so long...would love to avoid it!

I haven't, but that's my plan going home from the DL races this year (we're flying into Burbank since we are spending a day at Universal) so I'm curious what feedback you get.
My little sister flew into Long Beach for the 2011 Disneyland Half. I was already at Disneyland, so I picked her up at the airport. It really isn't all that far from Disneyland.

✈️LGB - I wish I was using LGB!!! We've used it for 2 roundtrips pre-pandemic. It's a partially open-air terminal. When you land they will bring two staircases out on the tarmac so you'll be able to de-plane in half the time!

In regards to 2025 Disneyland race date...let's just say, I'm hoping that I don't fall in love with runDisney racing 🤣b/c these dates in January don't really work for my family, but we're making it work for 2024. Maybe I would be back for 2026?!?.....Ok, One race at a time!!!

Sunday I raced a 10k to use as my POT. I'm not a very experienced racer, but I had never felt so unsure about what the outcome would be going into a race....but somehow the training plan worked and I was able to PR my previous 10k by 58 seconds, 🥳and coming in at 56:13 I think that's good enough for my POT. Yesterday I did a little yoga and took a deload on my weightlifting. It felt good to rest, but today was day 1 of my Half Marathon training plan. I have a habit of not sticking to the daily order of the workouts, so when I set out to start running I really didn't know which workout from week 1 I was going to do, but my options were 35 minute Easy Run, 40 minute Steady Run, or 60 minute Long Run. After about 31 minutes I had been "steadily" running 11 min/mile so I decided that was consistent and I could run another mile, be close enough to home for a short cool down and call day 1 of training done!✅

Part of my problem is that I'm somewhat interested in running with the Galloway pacers at 2:00/0:30 intervals, but I've never raced with intervals before so I'm not 100% sure how I want to approach my training, particularly with the Long Runs. Anyway, my 16 week training plans calls for 5 runs per week and I've never run that much in my life so I think I'll make improvements simply by the volume/frequency increasing. 🤔

Happy Training Friends!!!🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
