Disneyland Forward Updated Documents

I need a wider map to get a better perspective.

Oh, wow! So Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier would be (sort of) right in the park? I wonder what they're planning to do about hotel parking? And does this mean that you would enter the DLH hotel when checking in off of Walnut?

I'm also a little confused about what this does with Disneyland Drive.

That's a very ambitious project. It would mean a lot more construction activity in the DLH/PPH areas.

Thanks for sharing that!

I right clicked on it>copy image>opened word>pasted>view>hit 200%. I am sure there are easier ways but it worked for me to get a better lay of the land.

This would be huge and would take years to complete. But I am sure whatever they put in there will be amazing. Something along the lines of Avatar for a portion of it? The downside would be the endless construction.

That's HUGE. They've stuffed 14 rides and a show into that space... who knows if that might actually be what they do, but this wouldn't be a small little upgrade with a couple attractions and a bunch of food places or something, this would big a HUGE addition.

Let the speculation on what will go where based on that map begin!

I want to vote for Arandelle and a Villain area if we are theorizing. Based on nothing but hopes and dreams.

I don't know, I think it's kind of depressing. I like Disneyland's cozy feel.
Ah yes, I did like AndrewC's reply that it would be huge but I kinda feel like you Pluto468. I like the cozy feel of DL. I think Star Wars land was a great addition and fits quite nicely with the overall scheme of DL.

However, so much is done now for the sake of $$ that it may not fit what you or I feel is the true essence that is Disneyland. I am withholding judgement until there is a clear plan in place.

I think it largely depends on how it’s designed. What I like about Disneyland is that it’s all walkable. It’s a long day, but you can go from park to park and hotel and back and forth without getting in a vehicle or any type.

I actually think this could double down on it (at least for on site guests). This is literally steps away from the hotels and you’re in the park. I think this would feel very cozy and winding around the resort, which I suspect at ground level might actually be hidden a little until you’re out of a “world” and in more open pathways. Disney has done a great job with theming and seems like they’ve been upping their game lately so if that same energy is put into this, I think you could potentially “tune out” some of the more boring stuff like hotel and roads.

On the flip side, the gross area actually appears to be roughly the same as DCA. Now you do have two resorts there, but DCA has a very large lake area and a pretty big water attraction/challenge trail. So they could possibly have a lot of room to play with. Smart designs, compelling attractions, and great theming goes a long way.

Disney could screw all this up, but optimistic that it has the potential of DCA… which did not exactly open to warm welcomes, so hopefully they’ve learned from that.

I just fear DLH rooms will be $1000+ a night and PP will be like $700+ a night. Absolutely not worth it, but I can’t really think of anywhere else as high profile as Disney where a hotel room is maybe 3-4 minutes walk before you’re in the park.

I think anyone who bought/is buying VDH would be drooling at the possibilities.

I mean, did we ever imagine GCH going to $800/night in the early 2010’s?

it looks awesome, but where are people going to park for the hotels (and for downtown disney)? I also wonder what happens to the monorail. Also, they are building completely new buildings for downtown disney right now where part of the park appears to be. As well as the walkway from the DLH through DD to the original 2 parks.

Maybe it will be two levels or something.

I think this is so early into the process that there's nothing much to do but wait and see how much of this actually gets from the drawing board to the final stages. I doubt that all of it is going to be implemented and there are a number of issues that would have to be addressed, like parking, as many have mentioned. There may be other plans to address that but definitely some kinks to work out if they want to go forward with this proposal.

It doesn't LOOK like the monorail would be affected unless they wanted to incorporate it into the new parts/DCA, but I really doubt that would happen.

Edited to add that I wonder what the situation with DLH/PPH would be concerning the parks? It's very unclear to me how the hotels are separated from the parks, and how you would access them, or DLH at least, from DTD. What is that new map showing for Disneyland Drive? It looks like a path, so are they planning to close it to cars, or build a walkway over it the street, or what?

Also, is this a new 3rd park? How and where would you access it? Would there be gates from DLH and PPH?

The only thing that makes sense is for them to shorten Downtown disney to end at Disneyland Drive, and have the entrance there. That still leaves the question as to how to access the DLH.

That's why I was asking why they were creating new buildings for downtown disney right where the park would be.
