Ok, so our trip is all planned. I booked our hotel and bought Mickey's TOT tickets but I have not purchased are park hoppers yet. I found out this weekend I am pregnant. YAY, we've been trying off and on for awhile now. I thought I'd be ok with going to DL pregnant (I'd be around 4 months then) but now I'm kind of re-thinking it. Here's the pros and cons:

PROS: it's DL and I haven't been in years, good exercise, still fun for the kids and us.

CONS: tiredness, achiness, possible sickness, and the kicker...if I don't get hired on to my current job permanently by October then I will be unemployed and saving this DL money would be very helpful for us. Oh and I don't want to disappoint my nephew.

So, I told my nephew we were thinking of putting it off a year and asked him what he thought. He is so sweet, and told me that he understands and he would go whenever he could. I'm also thinking my brother (his dad) and SIL could also go next year too and this would give them time to save $$. Gosh I just keep going back and forth. I would hate to put it off and then come up with another excuse as to why I can't go next year. What do you all think? Any experienced DL goers who were preggo when they went? Would I be terribly miserable going pregnant? Thanks a ton.

hum it would be hard for me to cancle but if i found out i was preggy i would cancle i wouldnt be at my best going to disney 4months along. id miss so many rides idk its up to you tho, maybe rent an ECV or something if you go so you arent hurting all day

I have never been pregnant so I don't know what that part of the experience will be, however, I know that there are lots of pregnant women at Disneyland all the time. You may need to take it at a little slower pace, but would it really stop you from enjoying your day?

Also, if you are looking at the finances, if you wait a year to take the trip, remmber, you will have a newborn with you which is a whole different set of "what if" questions.

Irregardless of what you decide, congratulations on your great news and good for your nephew for being so sweet about the (pending) trip.

Thanks for the replies so far. So to answer your question as to whether it would dampen my trip, I'd have to say yes a little. I would not get to go on many rides and I LOVE THE RIDES. I think I am the most excited about this trip and it was for the rides. So, that part of the trip would be a bit of a downer. But I know I would thoroughly enjoy watching the kids have fun. That's why I can't LOL.

Since we had just purchased premium APs about 6 weeks before I found out I was pregnant with DS and my DH and I had scheduled a belated honeymoon for about 6 months after our wedding, I have been to both WDW and DLR while pregnant. I was only 2 months pregnant for the first trip back to Anaheim and the last trip was when I was 7 months along (exactly one year ago today!), and I think we went to DLR at least 2 other times during that 5 month span and as I said earlier we also were at WDW for 5 days when I was 4 months along. Personally, I felt my best during the second trimester, but everyone's pregnancies are different.

It can be a lot of fun as long as you plan your days out right. While there are many rides that you shouldn't ride (the Mountains, ToT, CS, etc.) there is still plenty to do. I rode all the dark rides, went to shows, met characters (it's great to get a "belly shot" with your favorite character to show your unborn child someday). And, you have every excuse in the world to eat your way around the parks!

Depending on the time of the year, you shouldn't plan to do an open to close kind of schedule, and you may need to head back to your hotel room for a mid-day break. Other than that, stay hydrated, relax and enjoy yourself. And, take the time to daydream about what it will be like to bring your child to DLR for the first time!

Chesh- Ok your post makes me want to go. We plan to go back to the hotel almost everyday anyway for our 2 yo to nap. I figured if my nephew wanted to stay over there and play, me or DH could take turns with him. Now I can just say I'll stay behind and nap with DD. I was sick through my entire 1st pregnancy, so I'm also hoping that doesn't kick in soon LOL. My cautious side says to push it off but my fun side says: who cares, I'll still have fun and what if we don't get this chance to go for awhile!!

well even her post makes me want to go when i am lol
a pic being preggy would be cool my mom went to wdw she has a pic of being preggy with me with mickey lol
well go and have fun just becareful not to go on rides you shouldnt..heck i would look at grizzly and say "oh i can go" but i wouldnt do it for the babys sake

take lots of pics

I went to Disneyland when I was pregnant in January and had a great time! My older DD was 19 months, so we pretty much had the same ride restrictions. DD and I always went back to the hotel for a nap from 12-2, and DH would go ride all the "big" rides. I'm sure you would have a really fun time, but the deciding factor for me would be the money situation. If going might put you in a bad situation financially, I wouldn't go. Have you talked to your brother and SIL to see if they would be interested in saving up and going next year?

ETA: I forgot to say congratulations on your pregnancy! How exciting!

Hi,
I have 3 kids, I went pregnant with every child to DL (all BIG babies 9lb and up) it's still fun as ever. When the time arrives and you are not there, you will be kicking yourself thinking, I feel great I could of done it. I was also there 2 weeks before my daughter was born for the whole day. They have a nice resting area in the baby center. My kids love to see pictures that they were there even before birth :)

first of all congrats mama! thats so exciting:yay:

i think you should totally go to disneyland pregnant! we went when i was 3 months pregnant, and we had a great time. as long you're not too sick, you know? and you should go back to your hotel sometime during the day to rest for a bit.

as far as rides go, it was a little sad seeing everyone get on certain rides that i couldnt go on, but its still soooo much fun, and you could use that extra time to explore other things in the park, like shows and things you dont normally do. its also nice to just relax, EAT (gotta feed that baby!), take your time, and just enjoy being there. and there are rides you can still go on...pirates, HM, JC, etc..

on the other hand i totally understand about the money issue...im kinda going through that right now...i might also be pregnant, so im thinking the same thing you are, about saving that money for a new baby! haha ill know in the next couple days for sure, but im pretty sure im not prego :)

another thing you could do is maybe just shorten your trip; you could save some money and still go to disneyland!

haha congrats again!

Thanks again for the replies. I'm going to talk with DH and maybe we'll wait a bit longer to buy our park hoppers and see what happens at work. I was told I would be filling th last permanent position and then they filled it internally so I was very irritated to say the least. I'm being told now I will fill the next one, but I'm not holding my breath if you know what I mean! Thanks for all the well wishes too!

PRINCESS- GL to you. I thought for sure I was not prenant this time, but DH just knew so weird.

thank you jlparedes...same to you with your pregnancy:) enjoy being prego!

Congrats!:yay:

I went to DL when I was 6 months pg with twins! And I enjoyed myself so much. Just walking around, eating and people watching was a blast. I did ride too just not the big rides.

And I got some nice pictures of belly in front the castel... That's was memoriable!! Now 2 years later we are taking the twins for their 2 trip, I can't wait!!

We live local and have had our Premium APs for 9 years. I went at least once a month during both of my pregnancies, including a couple weekend hotel stays. I never had any issues, except for that incident after the meatloaf at Ariel's Grotto Princess Lunch - when I was 9 months pregnant with #2! (I know - what was I thinking ordering meatloaf - but it sounded good at the time!) :rotfl: :rolleyes1 Hopefully you'll already be past the "blech" and onto the good part of trimester 2. My first one was a breeze, but I never left the "blech" that time around.

Look at it this way - anything you can take a baby on, you can do - even Pirates. Otherwise - enjoy the shopping, people watching, and atmosphere! Folks have already given you ideas to make great memories. My belly pics from WDW when I was almost 7 months along with my oldest are some of my favorite! Take the monorail back to the hotel area, if you are at the DL - save yourself from having to walk all the way back to the front of the park!

My best tip - if you have issues, just head over to first aid. When I had the meatloaf incident, it didn't hit me until we were back in DL later that afternoon. I headed over ther - next to Baby Care and made sure to immediately tell them I was not in labor when I walked through the door - I saw the looks on their faces as it opened! :scared1: They did lend us a free wheelchair for my hubby to run me back to the hotel with. I'm really glad I didn't have to pile in the car for the 45 minute drive home that night, although I was prepared, just in case. The nurses checked me out and were really helpful. I knew I had just overdone it and needed some rest (after losing the battle with the meatloaf).

While I am glad to have never delivered at Disneyland - a few women have had that honor, I can say that both of my girls were delivered in the Disney Maternity Ward of the same hospital that treated Walt Disney - right in view of the Disney Studios! Started them out right at birth! The maternity ward is filled with original Dumbo art and the recovery ward is filled with original Mary Blair/Small World concept art. :worship:

Go, enjoy, cherish the time pregnant with your 2 year old - you'll be happy you did!
Nancy
