Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are planning a trip to Disneyland for New Years (12/30-01/01). I did this trip with my family when I was younger but don't remember if there were any special events. For anyone who has gone during this time, Is there anything they do on New Years Eve that we shouldn't miss? Anything that I should start planning for/ making reservations early for? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Mitch

I don't believe there's anything super special, only the fireworks at midnight. Be prepared for HUGE crowds, so if there's any sit down restaurants you'd like to do, make reservations 60 days out. When we were there, they passed out some plastic hats or something I think around 11 pm or so. I really don't remember too much. The only thing I really remember was huge crowds and fireworks at midnight. I would imagine there's a few more bands playing as well. Good luck!

They have a New Years party in each park.

It is crazy busy, and if you leave during the day you may not be able to return as the parks reach capacity. Super fireworks on that night.

This is one day that you will want to make meal reservations at the predate max, two months out.

Thank you for the quick responses! I will definitely take your advice and book the meals early! Also, good point about the possibility of not being able to get back in. Does anyone remember a restaurants in the park or DTD that had any kind of NYE specials i.e champaign and dessert at midnight etc?

We were there for New Year's 2011/2012 but elected to spend the day in CA. Everyone must have wanted to be in DL because it was so quiet. Short waits and great character interaction. We went to Goofy's for dinner which was really special for my boys. They are too young to stay up for midnight so we were back at the hotel by 9:00. It was super foggy. They still did the fireworks but even if you were at the park they were difficult to see. We could sort of see flashes of light from the hotel.

We are going this year as well. I am nervous about the crowds/weather but it is my daughter's actual birthday that day and that is one of the things on our bucket list is to do NYE once. So we plan to get to the parks fairly close to opening and probably won't leave. Thinking we may have to find a nice show or piece of grass to take a little nap LOL. We plan to take her to BB for her birthday so def planning on making ressies as soon as we can and wondering when the hotels will be available???

Remember that DLR only has alcohol available in Club 33, so if you want champagne or anything like that you will have to be in DCA or DTD at midnight. If you are in DCA or DTD you will probably be able to see the fireworks but you won't hear the soundtrack.

Its funny you mention the bucket list, my wife and I are crossing off the pre-kids bucket list items and DLR on NYE was one of em :). I hope your daughter has a great b-day!

Good call. I don't expect to be getting into Club 33 anytime soon...
