Disneyland Face Charatcer Auditions

This is from Disney directly:
"Disney Princess Look-alikes: We are looking for smiling faces to bring to life heroines from classic Disney animated films. Strong female candidates should resemble the characters in look, height and personality, have a positive attitude and possess a good speaking voice. Female performers must be between 5’2” and 5’7” (157cm – 170cm). There will be an initial type out, followed by a movement combination."

As for the audition process...

1st Round
Very early in the morning, several 100s of people generally show up and get in line. Small groups are taken in at a time. They bring the group in the room, line everyone up, look at them, and call out numbers of those they want to stay. The others are done. (So... you could wait 2 hours to get your chance to walk in the room and be done 10 seconds later.)

2nd Round
After everyone has had their 10 seconds in a line up, those that made the 1st cut are taught a small dance routine (to show coordination, movement, etc...). Small groups are brought in. Dance. Numbers called. Stay or go accordingly.

3rd Round
Wigs are brought out and tried on in front of the panel. They could have you try 1 or a few, depending. At this point, they may take a Polaroid pic of you.... or not. Everyone gets their turn at wigs and then numbers are called. Again.

4th Round
Some sort of improvisation. This lets them see how you interact, speak, etc....

The end.

Princesses I believe range from 5'4"-5'10". Alice is shorter. 5'1' / 5'2"??

Actually, depending on the park, the auditions can vary. For the Hong Kong princesses, there were only about 50 who showed up and we all went straight to learning a dance routine. The posting said 5'2"-5'7" but my friend (who I dragged with me for the Paris audition that was a few hours later) who is 5'9" was allowed to audition for Hong Kong too (maybe because there were so few girls who showed up?). For the Disneyland Paris, it said that all heights were welcome because they have a limited number of entertainment CMs, so you not only perform as a face character, but also as a fuzzy and a regular parade performer, and for that we did "Animation" and then they did a dance routine after the first cut (my friend made it past and said that the combination was ridiculous because it was so fast, but she's also never had any formal dance training).

Also, both Wendy and Alice are around 5'0"-5'4" because they have to be convincing as children.

Thanks, Disney Dreams.

I want to do just to say I’ve tried. I’m 5’9” with no shoes on. Which is tall for a princess, IMO. I think I could only be a Jasmine, Mulan or if I got a tan Pocahontas. My eyes are too slanted to pull off a Belle, Cindy, etc.

Boo!

Since you'd probably go for a more "exotic" character, you might have an easier shot (especially since it seems like Pocahontas would be on the taller side of things). At the Paris auditions I don't remember seeing any Asians or Middle Eastern-looking girls.

I'm tempted! Pocahontas wears flats too. Actually so does Jasmine and I think Mulan too, no? Do the other princesses wear heels? I've seen Belle in like 3 inch or so heels under her dress. She's the only one I remember because I saw her lift up her dress to curtsy at Ariel's Grotto. Hmmm. I need to pay attention next time.

PPB, I'd say you should have a shot at Pocahontas!

Thank you, Moll-ay! :)

My Mom says to do it. Do it!!

Right now they're only auditioning for POD in DLR. I need to keep my eyes peeled.

Even though I'm getting braces in December, and princesses don't have braces! BOO!

The other princesses do wear heels, because they wear heels in their films. It's all about matching the film.

If you can, audition before you get your braces, but if you can't, then you'll just have extra time to practice your curtsy and wave.
