We will be using the DLE for the first time. Are reservations necessary from John Wayne airport to DLH? How is payment taken?

Reservations aren't necessary, but you can purchase tickets ahead of time online if you'd like. If you do not purchase ahead of time they have a ticket booth where you wait for the bus. Sometimes someone is there, and sometimes not. If not they will have a ticket person on the bus that you can purchase tickets from using a credit card.

We have used both the DLE express and Super shuttle from SNA/LAX to our Hotel. They will take your credit card either in advance or on the bus. I do prefer Super shuttle, and if you are travelling with between 3 to 9 in your party, a private shuttle direct to your hotel costs $63.00(total), plus tip. Use discount code CANTR for a small discount.

valiamo... Can I ask why you prefer Super Shuttle? We are arriving next week and I'm still trying to figure out how we are getting from LAX to our hotel near the Convention Center... Thanks in advance!

Last time we took the DLE, we spent 55 minutes waiting for the next DLE bus, and then we were let off at the DL Hotel. We then waited about 30 minutes to get a second bus over to our hotel (Fairfield) and we were the last one off the bus. While it is convenient, it just seemed like a long time to get from LAX to the Hotel. Also there is a last bus at ~ 9pm and if you miss that one, you have to take a cab.

I like the convenience of a shuttle from the Airport as it "seems" to me to be much quicker. There are a number of shuttle companies, and this is the one I prefer. Some dislike the company, but I have not had any major difficulties. From LAX, it is the most reasonable cost per person.. If I was in Fort Lauderdale, Supershuttle is way too expensive, double other companies.

We've done DLE a couple times -- the Disney theming is fun and the seats are comfortable and roomy. To me, it's a more comfortable ride than Shuttle Express. However -- our last trip on DLE was a big disappointment. We took it from SNA and when we got on, the driver recommended everyone sit close to the front because the back air conditioning wasn't working. So we did ... well not only was the back air conditioning not working, in fact the ONLY air conditioning that was working was the driver's A/C!!! This was in mid-August. Miserable trip. I couldn't believe Gray Line would actually send a bus out in that condition. Not sure we will take it again. Also, the long wait between busses can be a problem. If you happen to get there right after a shuttle has departed, you may have an hour before the next one. Not sure I'll do it again.
