Okay so when we arrived at LAX we went to the middle lane under the green sign to wait for DL Express, well a private van pulled up with a sign that said DL express, and he wanted to know if we already bought tickets and we said no so he said okay I will take you...To make a long story short and $100 later do not take anything but the actual bus that has the characters on it.

Wow! Thanks for the advice. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. Knowledge is power. Now you know for the next time!

OMG....this is the exact same thing that happend to my mom when she tried to take the bus. She ended up just throwing the amt she would have paid with her coupon for the bus at the guy and walked away. She was sooooo mad. He lied to her, made her wait forever as he kept circling the airport looking for other passengers. It was horrible.

Oh that's awful!

Not that they can do anything about it, but I imagine the real Disneyland Express would like to know about this person.

Dude!! The same thing almost happened to us on our way to the airport on our return trip. But we knew what the bus looked like and we were suspicious so we were like umm, take a hike please?

yikes, so sorry to hear that! just want to point out though that we had a plain white bus (no characters or anything on it) that picked us up from SNA and brought us to our hotel (tropicana). it was the DL express bus, but it was just plain white. when i called to make a reservation for our trip back to the airport, i was hoping to get the bus with the characters on it (i saw at least 3 driving on harbor), but again, we had the plain white bus. oh, and since we made ressies, the driver made it clear to everyone who was waiting for the bus that he was there only for those with reservations (us), and brought us straight to SNA (no other stops!)...which was way cool! :thumbsup2

That is terrible that they are doing this. I agree that DE wouldn't be too happy about this. I just wanted to mention though, that Disneyland Express SOMETIMES does use busses that don't have the characters on them, and they are really DE. On the back to the airport from our hotel, a Grayline bus pulled up and we didn't board it because I didn't know that it was the DE. It was a regular Grayline bus with red and gray colors (I think) and not the usual DE character bus that we are used to. After waiting and waiting, I called DE to see where the bus was and they sent the bus back to pick us up. I had no clue that it was our DE bus because it was marked Grayline and not Disneyland Express. This was our first time using it and I didn't know that DE was run by Grayline. I'm not sure how often they use the non-character busses, but in case they do it routinely, I would check with the driver and make sure it is the DE run by Grayline.:)

That's terrible. Sorry the hear that. Yeah, here in LA, you have to be "heads-up" at all times.

You shouldn't have paid ANYTHING. You should have called the police from your cell phone. That's just not right... please report this.

No you can get them without a package! I used AAA to get our hoppers and when the agent asked if that was all, I mentioned I needed to find out how to get tickets for the Disney Express Bus, so she got us vouchers thru Disney. They came in my Trip Doc's. I was glad they were pre paid vouchers.

I sure am sorry to hear that! That driver was essentially hijacking another companies patrons. It may not be illegal, however, it is immoral, and unethical.
That driver should be reported, to the police, DE and to the taxi cab commission (Not sure of the exact name right off, for them, however it is to that affect)
