Disneyland Eticket theme park ticket arrival?

Can anyone explain to me why theme park tickets aren’t available until four days before your arrival when you purchase an eTicket vacation package from Disney directly? They don’t explain this anywhere on their site or in their confirmation emails. It’s four days before my arrival and I still haven’t received any tickets in the mail. Can someone explain to me why this process works this way?

eDocuments cuts down on postage and printing costs. Your tickets will automatically associate to your account once you’ve linked your reservation in the app. If you want a physical ticket, you can get one when you enter the first park. I *think* you have to request one now. They used to print automatically, but my understanding is that they’re trying to move away from physical tickets.
