Disneyland DVC DUO Studio “Garden View“. “I don’t think that word means what you think it means..”

In Hawaii the “Ocean View” vs “Ocean Front” is what’s gets me…. Ocean View could be tiniest sliver of ocean if you tilt your head just right out of the bathroom window… 🤣
Agreed. And beyond the parking lot there was greenery so they considered that a garden view.

We knew this before we arrived at the hotel. At that hotel, garden view was the cheapest so was anything that didn't look at the ocean or pool.

It does seem as if every hotel now stretches and obscures the truth about views and room category.

I've been to hotels in Vegas that describe a parking lot view as a "Mountain View"

Disney is no different, every company is trying to convince us to spend more money by using embellished terms. We'll just have to inspect the goods more before buying.

That's interesting to know. I guess it won't really affect me too much since I generally just book the cheapest room at Disney anyway. I'm not concerned about the view at DLR as much as I am about the room location. There's nothing I really look at much from my hotel room because I'm usually not in it that much, but I have to admit it's really nice when there is a pretty view.

Hawaii would likely be a different story--I'd sure prefer a nice view there, but I'm lucky since my brother owns a condo on the Big Island.

We are the opposite. We don't go to Hawaii to stay in our room. We only use the room to shower and change or to sleep. That's why we always opt for the cheapest room. If we want to see the beach, we go outside.

I love to sit on the lanai and watch the ocean, but a few years ago we went to a family gathering for a big birthday celebration. My family (5 of us) had a beautiful condo. It was ground floor with a lovely patio and grass--you could actually call it a garden view! No ocean view but you could walk right over to the pool and from there it led down to the beach. It was magical!! And you're right, we didn't spend much time there looking out the window.

I had a hard time finding this thread as I thought it was in the DVC forum. First, yay me, I found it. Second, I learned on the Disneyland Hotel tour that the rooms are named Garden Rooms as a nod to the original 8 rooms that the hotel had on opening day. The original rooms were two story motel type rooms.
