Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

I did my run. 2 hours and 15 minutes. 12 miles.
Don't ask me how I feel. I might bite your head off. :furious:

Am consuming Food, ibuproferin and getting ready to take an ice bath.

I'll report back later with hopefully a better attitude.

But I DID IT!!! :thumbsup2

Morning, or I should say afternoon all. Yup I am raring to go for tomorrow.

Of course I still have half a darn sheet cake from Katy's party staring at me but I may just have to throw it in the trash. That is what I have had to do in the past to get myself motivated. I hate to waste food like that but it will be really hard to do it otherwise cuz it will just be too darned tempting not to eat some if I don't!

But anyway Tracey your poor son. OUCH! Poor little guy! That looks so painful!

And Griz (sorry I don't know your real name) I admire you for running. Can't do it myself, bad knees.

Tomorrow is my first day back and although I am anxious I know my body is going to retaliate! I haven't exercised in months so it will be sore that's for sure but I know after a few days or weeks it will feel good again to just get moving! So I look forward to that!

20 lbs is REALLY ambitious. I don't know how you guys can do that! 1 lb a week is a realistic loss and a healthy one. Anything more is pretty tough to do and not really that healthy but good luck anyway. I will be happy to lose 8-10 by the trip! I don't try to push myself. 1 lb a week is good and I would be happy with that. Plus last time it took me awhile to get kick started and I have been at this plateau for a WHILE now so who knows what will happen.

But good luck to us all! I am just glad to have you guys to do it along with me! :)

My advice: THROW AWAY THE CAKE!
And don't dread exercise. As long as you don't over do it, it really shouldn't be that bad. Just start out slow and build up. Do NOT do like I did today, skipping 8 days of running and then thinking I could just jump back in to my regularly scheduled training. I am in pain and it's my fault.

I can't believe this group is so averse to exercise. It is key for healthy living and keeping weight off! And it can be fun!

I agree with the 20 pounds being ambitious, but these ladies have exceeded what I thought was possible before. And if everyone GETS UP AND MOVES, who knows what is possible! Just so long as no one is disappointed if
only 10 poinds are lost by DL meet. I think that's a good sound goal!

Oh I LOVE to workout. I just haven't been able to in a few months because I have some health problems that have limited me. I am due for surgery in February. I am going to do my best but until my issues are fixed I don't know how well I will fare. I have a bladder condition that makes me feel like I have a constant uti and it made it near impossible to workout because not only did I feel like I had to go pee but the pressure was painful. And the more I jumped around or tried to do any type of pilates or anything the worse it was.

So I finally had to quit. It got so bad it was hard to go for long car rides or even walk around for any period of time much less try to jog or anything else. But as I said I am set for this surgery and hopefully that will help. But I am going to try and see if I can do some modified exercise until my surgery but if it bothers me too much I may have to wait until after and just rely on diet until then.

But I LOVE to exercise and I miss it. That is why I will be glad when I can get all these health issues resolved so I can go back to working out!

I know, I know......I truthfully HATE exercise. Well, not all forms of exercise, but most. I do like walking. It clears my head and gets me out in the fresh air.

I also like swimming, but only in a pool. (Left over problem from watching "Jaws" when I was six years old. :goodvibes )

I used to be big time into athletics. In college I ran a few miles almost daily, lifted weights, played in co-ed soccer and softball, and heck, just played a good round of "horse" a lot. But since then, nada.:sad2:

I've got to try to get stronger again. Not only my muscles, but my heart!

I'm kind of home bound right now though because of all the snow. I'll have to pull out my pilates video I guess. Or shovel snow, but I leave that to hubby, since he needs to lose weight and get in shape more than me!

Oh wait......I LOVE walking around DLR or WDW though! I don't care how sore I get while I'm there! It's just about the only time I really push myself to keep going. I wish I could spend a month or two there. Talk about a great way to get in shape that I would actually DO everday!

Dear Disney,

Will work in exchange for room/board/healthy food. The more walking the better. Contact me if interested.

Sincerely,

Capri (Disney-super-mom)

YEAH, you did it. I knew you could!

I actually like excercise, or rather I like the solitutude and the peace that exercise affords me, not to mention my own reading and music time. And I like the energy that it gives me.

LOL You get that job and I am also in!

Might as well go for the whole enchilada! (Not literally of course. ;) )
Darn it, now I want enchiladas. :lmao:

Here is a visual of DS's lip.
Oh ouch! Poor little guy. I hope it heals up quickly.

It is a lot. But then I have a lot to lose and the more you have to lose the easier it comes off in the beginning. So maybe it will work.
I'm shooting for that, BUT honestly, as long as the scale is going down each and every week, even if only by a half a pound, then I will be happy. :goodvibes

/
Morning everyone happy monday. I wish I could say it was a great one for me but unfortunately I didn't have a very good night. If you read on the ladies thread I had a bad headache last night and some stomach issues so I got NO sleep and am not feeling well at ALL today. This is what has done me in for the last several months and WHY I stopped working out before BUT I am not going to let it stop me this time. I am not going to be able to workout today because I am utterly exhausted and still in pain BUT hopefully tomorrow I will feel better and will start in then.

I did weigh in today but it is not a very accurate reading. I got 157.4 which is WAY off the norm. We have been eating like crazy all weekend and we had spaghetti last night so I am sure that is why it is reading like crazy today. I was 156 even yesterday morning and I usually read anywhere between 156.2 to 156.8 on most days. So I am not really counting this as an accurate reflection. I am sure by tomorrow I will be back to somewhere in the 156's by tomorrow.

But nonetheless I still put what the scale says and that is what it said. So IF I manage to lose a pound this week by next monday it might actually show a 2 pound loss but that is not really accurate because I am usually at 156.

But anyway eventhough I am not feeling up to working out today at least I can start with the food.

My plan is to eat a small 1/4 cup of shredded wheat for breakfast pretty much everyday and then for lunch on the days I don't work I will try to have either a bowl of soup or a lean cuisine frozen entree etc.

Then if I do manage to have fast food I have found acceptable alternatives. I have found I can usually eat a childs burger or a small mcnuggets and then I eat the apple walnut salad with the yogurt and a small diet soda or water at mcd's or a small bean burrito or soft chickent taco at taco bell things like that.

When I work mom and I usually split a meal or if we go to la bou I have soup and salad things like that.

Then for dinner I usually have a palm size serving of meat and plenty of what ever veggies we are having and if we have rice or potatoes I have only about a half or 1/4 cup and for our potatoes I make them without butter and use non fat milk.

Then after dinner I eat a 1/4 cup serving of non fat yogurt.

And that's pretty much what I eat. And then as I said if we go to any special occasions I don't forbade myself from eating birthday cake or whatever I just have a VERY small piece and I usually don't eat the appetizers or whatever. I just bring my bottled water and I try to eat the veggies etc.

I think that's it for my strategy. Oh and for exercise I usually do cardio for 30 to 45 mins every other day and then strength training the opposite days.

That's bout it.

Good luck everyone and I look forward to sharing our journeys together!

I have in no way been eating healthy the past week, even with that shocker of a weigh in on Friday. I went to my Dr. today and thankfully the lady that weighed me told me the scale wasn't working correctly and it would add 10 lbs. :scared: Hopefully I never see that weight for real. :scared: Maybe I should go exercise or something, but it's just too darn cold!

I hope you all are doing better then I am!

Have a great day all. :goodvibes

Kelly-I sure hope you're feeling better soon and wish you a successful surgery in February. I know it must be frustrating to be held back from your exercise plans, but a month isn't long to wait and best to listen to your body and be responsive to what it needs right now.

Capri--Hope you're feeling better soon.

Wendy--Good to have you back! I hate doctor's scales :headache:

SO...
I have a CHALLENGE for all of you who are avoiding exercise (excluding those with real medical excuses and injuries, of course)

COUCH TO 5K WALK BY DISNEYLAND DIVAS MEET

I found a really doable fitness walking program by Hal Higdon's

http://www.halhigdon.com/5K%20Training/5-Kwalk.htm

If you do this, you WILL be happier at Disneyland because you will have the energy and stamina and muscles to enjoy walking and walking and walking around the park.

And who knows...once you get started, maybe I can entice some of you to join me for the Disneyland 5k in September?

And from there, possibilities are endless...
There is no time like today to start. If it's too cold, put on a jacket and hat. If you're too tired, push through it. Even if you're busy, you can't afford not to find some time to exercise. COME ON!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
LET US KNOW IF YOU ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE! :woohoo:

The rewards await you (and they aren't candy...I'll think of something ;) )

Don't leave me hanging ladies...:sad2:

Hmmmm, I'm guessing that couch to 5k walk does NOT mean I can bring my couch to watch others walk......:rolleyes1

;)

I'm in homework hell right now with the kiddos but I promise you I will check that link out later this evening. I really need to get moving. :yay: And I need someone to kick my butt and make me get moving. Sure you don't want to come to Vegas and pull me off the couch????

Beth: if you walk carrying the couch you definitely will burn enough calories to later sit down and watch others complete their walks. But this may not be a sound strategy for maintaining a good back.

And I have good news! According to the training plan, today was an optional rest day. So all of your who are considering, you are still ON program. :rotfl: Tomorrow is a 15 minute walk. So just make sure and get your 15 minute walk in tomorrow, even if you do not have time to absorb the entire training program tonight.

I have my first potential recruit!

More takers out there?
Come on! 8 weeks from now, you'll be glad you signed on! :woohoo:

I will do this, as long as I can do it on the treadmill. No can do walking outside until it warms up. It just makes me to dang miserable.

OF COURSE you can walk on the treadmill!
Yeah!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Others? Don't miss out! :dance3:

Just need to walk 15 minutes tomorrow to get started. :woohoo:

Beth: if you walk carrying the couch you definitely will burn enough calories to later sit down and watch others complete their walks.
HA HA HA. ;)

I read through the link and it seems so easy! Heck, even I can do 15 minutes so count me in for sure. It almost seems like I should be doing more but maybe this is what I need.

With exercise, I tend to start out gung ho and do too much, then I'm sore and tired and don't do anymore.

Morning all. I went to bed last night at 8 p.m. cuz I still wasn't feeling that hot. It felt good to get some decent rest. I slept all night this time and I KNEW I was really bloated or something yesterday. THat plus my stomach issues because this morning I am registering 155 even. That is more like it. I usually go back and forth between 156 and 155. That 157 was nuts but I think I was majorly bloated yesterday or something. Plus yesterday I didn't eat a whole lot so I am on my way. I may go back up to the 156's sometime this week but the question is if I eat good this week will I STAY at 155 or even go down further by next monday! I hope so! I have been wanting to break 155 for days. That was the lowest I got before all this happened. I was at 155 before I stopped working out and got sick. Then I started fluctuating back and forth between 155 and 156 and then when I went on vacation in Nov I got up to 158.8 but managed to get back to 156 and have been going back and forth ever since.

I probably still won't work out today because I am literally exhausted from being so sick. Plus I am still in pain. Since today is my day off after I take the girls to school I am going to take another nice long hot bath and try to take a nice long nap. Then I am going to get up and try to get some more work done on the corporate taxes.

Hopefully tomorrow I will feel up to working out but if not hopefully I will be all healed and ready to start in by next week and I can start in fresh on Monday like I WANTED to do this monday. Regardless though I am at LEAST doing the eating part of it and have committed to that.

Anyway I hope everyone has a good day today and good luck to those that are doing the challenge!

GOOD MORNING LADIES! :cool1:
This is your annoying virtual trainer waking you up and telling you to GET OUT AND MOVE!:dogdance:

I have GOOD NEWS! It's DAY 2 OF OUR COUCH TO 5K BY DL DIVAS MEET

If you did not exercise yesterday, good job for following plan. :thumbsup2

For today, goal is to get MOVING - out of the house, on the treadmill, around the kitchen/living room, whatever. Good attitudes are optional. Slow as a snail is fine. Only mandatory item is to WALK 15 minutes in some good comfortable walking shoes. (Beth--put away the stiletto boots!)

Again, here's the entire, very doable program:
http://www.halhigdon.com/5K%20Training/5-Kwalk.htm

For today, you just need to be committed to walk those fifteen minutes.
:woohoo: Not just Beth and Tracey, but everyone who's considering! As long as you have medical approval and are injury free, you are good to go! Good attitudes and love of exercise are NOT required.

Go couch to 5k team! Go!:cheer2:

Feel free to bop the virtual trainer :badpc: I can take it.
Just take care of yourself and WALK 15 MINUTES!

Water girl, where are you? I need you to chime in here!

If you did not exercise yesterday, good job for following plan. :thumbsup2

Good attitudes and love of exercise are NOT required.
LOL on following plan.
Good thing that good attitudes are not required. I'd be out right then and there. :rolleyes1

Well, I walked the twins to school. That's about 4 blocks (or 3 long ones depending on how you look at it). Then I came home and did the 15 minute walking inside making circle 8's through my kitchen and living room.

I just fixed some oatmeal and I am looking forward to getting back to where I was before the damn holidays!! LOL My old baggy loose pants that I could pull down without unbuttoning are not so loose anymore and that scared the crap outta me! I can't let that happen. Not when I've worked so hard to lose what little bit I've lost so far.

I saw this site mentioned on another thread

http://www.sparkpeople.com/

Does anyone use it? Or other good sites for tracking food, exercise?
Looks interesting.
I've heard of that. A friend of mine used to use that site and loved it. I've heard very good things about it from a few others as well, but I never got around to checking it out myself.

Ok I'm back....
So I was watching Oprah yesterday and she told me I was just imbalanced.
Yep, imbalanced. Thats what's with the weight gain. I thought it was
prednizone (sp) & depression. Silly me...

Ok but for reals.
I bought Wii fit on Sunday..holy cow...hula-hoopin is some work out!
But the high school is now open for evening walks again! yay!

Anyways...do you guys follow a food program of such or something?
I never reallly know what to eat.
