Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

I made it to the gym before they closed. I've realized that if I don't exercise and sit too long, I feel sore and achey and some-what nauseous. My body is liking the exercise I think:scared::confused3

Did 5 miles on the bike today. My legs are so sore!

OMG, you all are totally putting me to shame. I just can't seem to get on the exercise bandwagon. :sad2:

But you all are doing fabulous!!!!!! Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll all be hot, skinny ummm, ahem "witches" before you know it! :thumbsup2 :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

HI beth!! And everyone else!

Hope you don't mind if I join you all. :goodvibes

It will be nice to have weight loss buddies to encourage me and help me along.

I have lost a total of 33 lbs over the last year, but 10 of that has been in the last month. I was really hoping to be under the 200 mark by the time I left for my DL vacation in September. I have 18 pounds to go to get to that goal!

I haven't gotten into the exercise portion of my weight loss yet, I really want to focus on my diet first.

Well, I look forward to loosing with you all!

Deanna

Hi Deanna! Glad you could make it over here. You'll find lots of support here on this thread. We've all got some sort of goal we are working towards and are here to cheer each other on. :cheer2:

Not sure if you read back at all, but some of us are weighing in and posting our results here on Fridays. You are welcome to do that as well. Or any other day if you already have a set weigh in day.

Basically this thread is for each one of us to use in whatever manner helps us the most. If you want to use it to keep track of water intake, or exercise amounts and times, or weight losses or gains, whatever is fine.
If you have some tips to share or recipes you've tried, go ahead and post that too!

If you have a craving and just want to come here and type away or post pictures to keep from eating, then please do so! It's totally up to you and whatever is going to get you to your goal.

I know you can lose those last 18 lbs before your trip!! We'll help you in whatever way we can. It's not easy, but we can do this!!!! Right ladies??!!!??! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Ladies,

I am back from my womens weekend. I did pretty well. My mom and I split a meal at almost every opportunity. We had a couple of treats including my first alcoholic beverage since I had my daughter. We chose to walk when we could have taken the car, so I think in general I did pretty well. I am basically doing Weight Watchers, so I will try to stick to my points for the rest of the week and hopefully friday morning I will see another loss. I go in to the doctor for my post partum check up tomorrow and they will weigh me too, but I trust my scale better.

I also started a ticker so I am testing it out.

Congrats to all of you who met your goal for the day!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, sounds like you had a good time and that you kept it pretty healthy. :thumbsup2

Welcome Deanna!:cheer2:

Hope everyone had a great weekend! :goodvibes

QUOTE FOR TODAY:

I have my Weight Watcher weigh in today. I think I'm probably up from Friday, as we went out to dinner twice this weekend. Had the chili's "guiltless grill" and vegetable soup at the other dinner. But with picking the kids' food and a glass of wine and no food journaling... Anyway, I'll consider Friday my "real" weigh in. :)

Have a fabulous Monday!

Hi ladies!!!

Hope you are all having a good Monday!! We are going to the movies today and I am planning to eat popcorn. I finally decided I simply cannot go and not have some. I'll end up sitting there the whole time thinking about it!!!

So instead I'm adjusting my calorie intake today and tomorrow to allow for it. And I'm getting a large and sharing it with all 3 girls. We are going to see Mamma Mia and Adam and Ruben are going to see Dark Knight.

I wanted to share this with you all!! One of the DISigners made it and I think it's perfect for us since so many of us have Disneyland trips coming up either with the family and/or with the Girls Only trip in March.
I think it's too cute!!!

Love the "priceless" design!

I went to the movies on Saturday and brought my own back of airpopped popcorn for myself. Threw in a bit of the movie stuff on top, just to make it taste a little more like the movie stuff. Just another option for you... ;)

Ooooh, that might work. I know I couldn't do just my own plain popcorn, but maybe mixing it might be a good option!! I didn't even think of that. I'm going to try that. Thanks!! :thumbsup2

OMGosh, LOL!! Funny... and still a compliment I'd say! :thumbsup2 Congrats on the 5 miles too!

I've been rockin the Wii Fit. I banked 1:45 today! (that's one hour 45 minutes, not 1 minute 45 seconds, lol). Not that I was really trying to clock a lot of time per se. But as it is a "lazy" Saturday and DH joined in, it got competitive and we were all tryng to beat each other's high scores. It's been really fun! And the cool thing is, I can feel all sorts of different muscles and ligaments working (and getting sore, lol) so I think it's been a great combo of strength and aerobic excercise.

Fun fun! :yay:

Way to make me look bad! :rotfl: Great job!

I'm feeling it too. The super hula hoop pretty much kills me and I hope that no one can see me when I do it.

And I found out it's because I was severely anemic. Normal is 12--I was 8.9  . When I went in this week my doc was convinced that it was going to be below 8 (in which case I would need a blood transfusion:scared1: ) but it's now at 11.7!!!! I've been taking prescription iron, eating a TON of spinach and some beef . . . but we are still trying to figure out what caused it. (I think I have ulcers--I've had them before and have similar "pains"). I'm seeing a gastroenterologist on Wed. for that and because I need anyway to schedule the dreaded "post-50" colonoscopy.

Cheryl

I'm glad that you didn't need a blood transfusion! :scared1:

I hope you get better real soon and get caught up on your work so you can go enjoy yourself!

Great job! Just thinking about 5 miles in one day makes me nervous, but one day I hope to work up to that!

Deanna

Hi Deanna :wave2: Welcome to our group!

Right ladies??!!!??! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Right Beth!

Hope you all had a great weekend! I totally fell off the bandwagon. I barely did any exercise and I'm pretty sure a second didn't go by where I didn't eat something. My excuse is PMS though so nobody mess with me  :rotfl: I can get really bratty this time of month.

Hope you all did better then I did! Of course when I walked into work today there were chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting on the counter...I can see them right now, they are staring at me, tempting me to eat one. I don't know if I can resist, but I must!

Here's a great site with some information on how to go from the couch to 5k in 9 weeks. To quote (you know I love quoting ;) ) Its secret is that it's a gentle introduction to getting the body moving, starting off alternating between walking and running small distances, and slowly building up until after 8 weeks, you're ready to run 5 kilometers or 30 minutes non stop.

http://www.c25k.com/

There are many great links on this site, but one of the most useful is a program from cool running which has an actual program to follow:

Thanks for the websites. I'm going to check them out and try and increase my stamina. I was doing so well last week. On Friday I was at a Habitat for Humanity build and was so proud that I was able to climb up the scaffolding and make it through the entire day without having to take breaks every 5 minutes. Unfortunately, on Saturday and Sunday my muscles rebelled and I was having a really hard time just making it downstairs. Lots of motrin later and I'm just now moving without making sounds. Luckily I took off today and tomorrow so I'm able to stretch out the legs instead of being stuck sitting at a desk all day long. I'm going to take the dog for a walk later on just to get moving and tomorrow there is another pilates class.

We just bought a small "George Foreman" type grill. Anyone have any great recipes? I'm really getting tired of all my fallback menus.

The super hula hoop pretty much kills me and I hope that no one can see me when I do it.

LOL!! I know isn't it a KILLER?! Holy cow. I did a 3 minute on the super hula today and thought I was gonna die, lol. And you're right... it is completely ridiculous to watch and I def'ly wouldn't want anyone other than our family to see me doing it, lol.

So I've been doing the Wii Fit every day so far. Today I've clocked in 31 credits:
(10) ten minute free step (995 steps)
(4) Super Hula (3 minute challenge)
(3) 3 minute run (67%)
(2) push up/plank (6 reps - ugh, it is HARD! I had to do it on my knees)
(1) soccer ball (beginner)
(1) bubble river (adv - keep getting stung by a bee when I try this one!)
(8) punching bag 6 minute challenge (666 pts)
(2) standing tree yoga pose (84 pts)
____
(31) total

Speaking about the Wii Fit... when doing the soccer ball challenge...

it is disturbing to see the disembodied panda heads flying toward me  :duck:

 It happens. Don't worry about it. It's happened to me and in the past I'd get discouraged and quit. Now I've learned you just keep on going and get right back on track. That's the key. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just stick with it!!

Good luck on resisting the cupcakes!!! OK, here's my thing and some of you might agree and some of you might not. But whenever I am tempted to eat something like that, I just ask myself if I really want it. I mean REALLY want it. Is it worth the calories?

Most of the time, the answer is no. Like the other day the kids were snacking on some Pringles. (the only real "junk" we have in the house right now) In the past I would have grabbed a hand full and mindlessly eaten them. And I almost did!

But I stopped myself and was like are you kidding me?? Those are so not worth the calories and blowing all the hard work I've done so far.
Now if it had been a slice of cheesecake well, the answer might have been different. :rolleyes1

What I'm trying to say is it's unrealistic to think you'll never give in to a craving ever again in your whole life. Just make it a mindful choice and make sure it's something you really want, not something you're just eating out of habit.

Does that make any sense??? :rotfl:

I don't but have you tired Googling to see what you come up with? :confused3 I bet there are lots out there. I know those things are very popular.

:scared1: I'm not sure what that's about but it sounds barbaric!!!

You guys sound like you are doing great on your Wii Fits!!!!!!

Thanks Beth. It does make sense to me. I usually do that same thing. I was a person that would eat something I didn't really care for because everyone else was doing it. Sometimes though I can't resist.

My mom owns a bakery, do you know how freaking hard it is to try and resist all the free goodies I could possibly want!? Every now and then I give in and get a chocolate chip bear claw or eat a cookie, but that rarely happens.

I successfully resisted the cupcakes, but my boss' husband brought me a mocha and I would feel so guilty if I didn't drink it. I didn't need to drink all of it, but I did. That was my treat for the week. I also cut back on everything I ate after breakfast.

My family is having a birthday party for my niece on Wednesday, she's turning 3, and I asked my mom if it was going to be a lunch type thing and she said yes, Chinese food and birthday cake. Great. :sad2: I see extra workouts in my future!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday! :flower3:

I'm in the same boat. I feel terrible and I'm SO angry that there is NO chocolate in my entire house, I looked EVERYWHERE!:headache: And I have a killer headache. I think my cramps traveled up to my head.

I know I'm not doing it correctly. It was interesting to see the "circle" I make after the super hula hoop. Mine looks more like a drunk oval.

I like the free step, it took me awhile to figure out how to change the stepping speed though.

I have no clue how the first two times I got 101% and 100% on the 3 min. run. I can't get above 70% anymore. :confused3

That'll be the day that I try push-ups! I wont to be trying for a LONG time.

I'm really bad at the soccer ball challenge. I played it once and hit maybe 6 balls, and that was without trying, I just happened to be in the right place. :lmao:

I'm having trouble on the bubble river too. I keep hitting the sides of the walls.

I've been spending most of my time on the step (I have the freaking tune stuck in my head that you step to) and the table tilt.[/QUOTE]

They kept smacking me in the head, 'cause I obviously have no idea what I'm doing. One day I'll go back to that came and hopefully not get too beat up, I felt sorry for my Mii last time.
