Disneyland Dining queries

Hi

We are going to Disneyland May 23, 24 and 28 and haven't been in 5 years.

In the olden times, we were able to manage to get into restaurants each day by just arranging something that day. Now I am a bit more worried as it's so hard to get reservations. Will walk up actually work for some restaurants like Wine Country Trattoria or Naples? I'm not necessarily looking for the most popular places, but a nice sit down meal.
How does the walk up list work? If you go on it at 2pm, can you ask for dinner or is it just they call you whenever they have a spot?

I am also worried about mobile ordering. I get how to do it, but we are all somewhat picky and the modifications allowed seems minimal. Will I have to wait a long time if we do not mobile order?

Lastly, I do have an Oga's on May 23, but think it might be hard for me to make work. Is there any chance on getting in walk in on other days?

I knew the most popular ones would be gone, but it feels like it's all mostly gone.

I did get up early 60 days out but I think I got up at the wrong time and blew it (tho to be honest i didn't really know what I wanted then anyway....)

Others will have more details, but I think the old "walk up" lists are now done in the app. We too used to do the walk up lists, but haven't tried it in years.

One thing I can say is that many people have said that reservations often open up the day (or two) before the date you want a reservation. So, keep checking as your trip gets closer. Good luck and have a great time!

Stream of thoughts...
The smaller your group (0-4), I think the better chance you have of finding last minute tables.
Yes, there are lots of cancellations the day/night before. Keep checking.

Yes, walk-up is mostly done in the App. Hit the + sign, check dining availability, select party size for same day, and search by "Now" time. Any restaurants offering wait list should show.

We tend to load up on reservations, but cancel them as the trip nears and our schedule comes more into focus once entertainment is released, etc. Except for a few favorites, we would much rather have the flexibility to mobile order and do quick service for most of the trip.

Ideas for your picky eaters/Mobile order challenges:
1) Take care of breakfast either at the hotel or on the walk to the parks. -- dry goods, cereal, protein bars, SBUX/MCD, etc.
2) If you don't want to mobile order in parks due to customization, I suggest get there early or late for lunch or dinner. Before 11:15 AM, after 1:00 PM, for example.
3) Look through the list of mobile order restaurants and check the menus. There are skewers, burgers, pizza, pasta... you name it. Picky eaters should be able to find something. You don't all need to order at the same place. I wouldn't want to carry a tray around the parks... but you can take food anywhere to meet up for a meal.
4) There are still counter-service restaurants that don't have mobile order. Again, get to those early or late. Rancho del Zocalo comes to mind. They are happy to customize. :thumbsup2

The past 3 times I've been Naples has been about a 45 min. wait on walk up same for Tortilla Jo's, I haven't tried walk up in the parks

I had to walk up for skewers to order them Without sauce for my gf kids. It felt like forever. There are a couple of restaurants I was able to mobile order gf. I was happily surprised at galactic grill that I could order my salad with no chicken!

I guess my question about adding yourself to the walk up list on the app is how far ahead do you need to add? If I want to eat at 5pm when do I add myself to walk up list? 3pm? Earlier? Later?

We got Ogas as a walk up on Saturday and it was fairly easy despite pretty large crowds. “Join wait list” button and keep refreshing over and over. Eventually a “40 minute wait” button popped up and we were able to snag a seat. Note- you have to be near Ogas for the app to work.

It depends on how long the wait is.

Wait lists are NOT always available to be added to. They often close. It will say "wait list has reached capacity." You have to catch it when it's open.

Check an hour before you want to eat. If it's available, add yourself. Wait times usually range from 15-55 minutes.
