Disneyland Dining Plan

I've a WDW Vet. DH and I are fans of the Dining Plan. Now that we're planning our Disneyland honeymoon Dec 29-Jan 1 (we're visiting San Diego before).

I can't figure out the Disneyland dining plan. We're planning 3 days for the parks. So I thought the 3 day dining plan would work, but I don't understand what it really includes and how it works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn't provide an advantage like the WDW version. Bascially you pay face value for physical vouchers which you redeem for the face value printed on the vouchers.

They are not very popular. In general only someone like yourself who has been to WDW a lot asks about them. Hence the lack of information.

I don't like them. They have a dollar value equal to an actual dollar. In fact, it's very easy to lose money on them because you do not get change for the remaining balance if you don't use the full value of the voucher (ie, the voucher is worth $5 and you only use $3.50) never mind the fact that you paid $5 for the voucher. If you get a character breakfast voucher, you could lose money if you don't use it at Goofy's Kitchen scince that was the base for the cost of that voucher.

I have done the math, and even if you use the full value of each voucher, you still lose money. There is no way it can pay for itself. I love the dining plan at DW also, but these 2 plans have NOTHING in common. Just bring money to pay for your dining at DL.

Agree to all of the previous statements. However, if you want to pre-pay for food and you want to guarantee at least breaking even, instead of just bringing cash, many people here recommend putting money on Disney gift cards in advance to use for meals. Pretty much everywhere takes Disney gift cards.

I agree with skiingfast.

Since 60-70% of DLR visitors are day trippers, the suits have never felt the need to provide a WDW type dining plan.

I much prefer to visit DLR (over WDW).....but there are a couple of things i do miss from WDW. The dining plan being one. I had started a thread on this a few months back.

Mixed opinions on how a WDW type dining plan might do at DLR....but many of us would like to see a modified one.
