Disneyland dining- forgot everything :(

I ajm so embarassed to admit but I have totally spaced all my Disneyland knowledge. It seems when I filled my head WDW info, all the good Disneyland stuff left my brain.

What restaurants take PS?

Who offers character meals with both the option of buffet and ordering off the menu?

I can make my PS July 12 but am really trying to figure out the budget. I'd like to do Storyteller's because my DD and DS are a huge Chip and Dale fans. We've done the Princess meal too many to count so we'll be skipping it thankfully

Any other restaurants or meals you can suggest? I am thinking we'll share most of the time and my kids are not picky at all. We'll eat in the park for most lunches and dinner with the occasional exception of maybe eating at Mimi's.

My DD has yet to try the Blue Bayou and my DS went once a few years ago but I doubt he remembers it and I don't ever remember going to Cafe Orleans. The BB might be a little $$$ for this trip. I am also looking for good value.

The only restaurants that I can imagine seeing F! from would be Cafe Orleans or Riverbell Terrace. However, I would suspect there would be too many people standing in front of you to get a really good view.

If you haven't eaten at Carnation Cafe, I definitely recommend lunch there. The potato soup is SUPER YUMMY. And Oscar, the chef there for the past 50 years, is a real treat. It's great to people watch while you relax outside. WWS is always a favorite of mine, as well.

Storytellers is the chip and dale breakfast. They have a buffet, or you can order from the menu. There are two big BUTS there. To see c n d, have your PS start before 10:30. We were told quite clearly that that's their last time out, and after that they have other obligations and are gone. And at 11:30, they stop the menu option, so if you want the option, get there so you can order before then.

The Lilo/Stitch breakfast at PCH Grill also offers the buffet or menu. I do not know if they stop menu service at some point.

Good point. I have read about people making their reservations late so it must be for Cafe Orleans.

Because HoJo's has the fridge and micro I am thinking we might do cereal and milk for breakfast with the exception of one character meal.

Do they really enforce a spilt plate charge anywhere?

I thought I read that you could get a good view too but it does make sense that people would be standing in front of you. For some reason I cannot imagine where Cafe Orleans is.

We would only go to see c n d so good to know our PS need to be on the earlier side.

Actually the Tratorria (sic?) at DCA is not a budget buster. Check out their menu at allears.net. They have a really good chicken lasagna for $13.00. They bring out yummy breadsticks, too. We like to sit down and be served some times during vacation

I was just going to post the same thing. Their menu looks so yummy, and I have heard excellent reports about their salads. I'm looking forward to eating there during the Ladies' trip next month.

Carnation Cafe is on Main Street, left hand side right next to the Blue Ribbon Bakery, which you need to drop by after to get a matterhorn shaped, chocolate drizzled coconut macaroon.

You really make me not want to go to WDW. I'm in fear of losing all my DLR knowledge!

I wanted to mention that we were told clearly about Chip and Dale once we were AT the restaurant (as in, "no C and D won't be coming out, they've been done for over an hour"), not by Disney Dining. DD knows nothing. That's also why the hostess, checking us in for our 11:30 PS, was sure to tell us while we sat down to wait for a table that the menu was done. And that DD never tells people that. And it would have been good to know ahead of time b/c I had been planning for 30 days to have the Huevos Rancheros from the menu. I love huevos rancheros....

But I just wanted to clarify that it was the restaurant personnel, not disney dining, who gave me the info. Credit where credit is due!

Good to know, thanks. I have been looking at menus and just skipped that. I never read much about it but it will be nice to have a sit down meal is DCA.

Seriously there are about a billion more things to choose from, from hotel to food to parks to entertainment. I have to say WDW's dining options are far superior to Disneyland's. You'll be a little overwhelmed but I will be happy to return the planning insight.

I do love olives!!!!! for the suggestion. I'd hate to have something not fabulous!

I too huevos rancheros!!!! I am glad you told me about the time because I tend to make a little breakfast reservations.

I have to agree with WTC in DCA. The food is very good, I LOVE the Caprese sandwhich too, my sister says the Lasagna is great.

Add a side salad and you can split any meal easily between two people, especially with the yummy breadsticks. I usually pack up the sandwhich to go and eat the salad and my sides at the restaurants and then eat the sandwhich that night for dinner walking around the park. Cheap and yummy!

I have seen Fantasmic from Riverbelle Terrace... ! It was great. But, that was before the Riverbelle Terrace was refurbed, and I don't know if they have changed anything. It's been about 2 years since we used that trick. Has anyone else used it since then??

I totally agree. And after looking at the menus, I don't think the food for the 3 of us will be all that pricey. Plus with me and the two little kids, we won't be able to hold a table while I order so places with PS are much more attractive.
