Hi, guys!

We have used DAS (once) in WDW but never at Disneyland.

When we book the return times online, is it the same time as the current wait? So if Haunted Mansion has an hour wait, would the wait time be 60 minutes? I feel like maybe at WDW it was a little shorter but honestly I can't remember that well! Just trying to look at wait times and plan for our first half day in the park!

It's the wait time minus 10 minutes.

Also, if you have a park hopper ticket, you can boon return times for both parks if the return time is after part hopping starts, you don't have to be scanned into the second park to do so.

Most attractions are DAS eligible, but unlike WDW most do not have lightning lane access, so you may have to ask where the alternate entrance is.

Otherwise, it works the same as at WDW.

You can also check in to the ride 5-10 minutes earlier than your return time. The timing depends on the ride. So in you example of HM having 60 minute stand by wait on the app, your DAS wait might be 45 minutes.

You can only do this once the app tells you you can. It doesn't work on every ride. The "redeem" button has to appear in the app and sometimes it shows up a few minutes early, but usually not. It's never as much as 10 minutes early. It's closer to 3-5 minutes. We had it show up 3 minutes early at Pirates and Dumbo yesterday, but the rest of the rides we had to wait until the exact return time for the button to show up.

Make sure you have notifications set up for the DL app on your phone and you will get a notification when your DAS becomes eligible to scan in with.

Thanks for clarifying. I wonder if this varies a lot? On our trip I thought the redeem button showed up for several rides 5 minutes early. And I know for Rise it was more than that. But maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. We often weren't making it to the next DAS time early anyway.

Yeah, it does vary a lot. But I have never seen anything close to 10 minutes early. We were there yesterday in both parks and due to the crowds and stupid long standby waits, we used the DAS a LOT. And only a few of ours gave us an early notification, and it was just a couple minutes each time.

We always just acan our tickets, up to 5 minutes early or 15 minutes late. No need for the app at that point. Using the app slows the line down dramatically. Basically we never pay attention to the app after booking, unless we forget what our return time is.

How does using the app slow down the line?

There is no "15 minutes late" with DAS. You are confusing it with Fastpass.

Scanning the app is faster than inserting individual tickets. When you use the app, you insert your phone once and just swipe one after the other. The CMs make sure people have their phones our and barcodes ready to scan before they get to the scanners.

Sorry. Just joining in. I’ve been reading and was wondering about what everyone was talking about when they redeem. Then, I just realized there’s no magic band to use at DL. Can someone explain to me what to do when it’s time to redeem the ride? Will there be a DAS square when we enter a park? So, I schedule a ride next. Where is the barcode when it’s time to scan? It’s going to be just the 3 of us. Can we do it all under one phone? TIA

It takes a lot longer for you to go through every pass than each person just quickly scanning their own paper ticket (or at WDW Magicband), seriously, takes about 4 to 5 times as long.

Sorry, I was referring to the advanced selection for the 15 minutes late. The 5 minutes early applies to both day of and advanced selections. I didn't make it clear.

And no, the phones are much slower when one person scans for everyone in the party. The ticket is simple and easy.

Just scan your paper ticket, works like a magic band. Each person should have their own ticket.

You can also do.it from your phone, but that takes longer.

We go to WDW, not DL and use Magicbands, not tickets.
But, I’ve seen other guests using their phones and tickets at WDW and I don’t think the things we’ve seen would be much different between WDW and DL.
My suggestion would be to try each and see which works better for you. The biggest determining factor for speed in scanning is being ready to scan - the same factor for tickets or phone. (And people putting their phones/tickets away while blocking the scan point)

If you only have a couple people who are going to be ready to scan their own tickets, that might or might not be faster than using the phone app. The delays we’ve seen at WDW with using the phone app has mostly been with other members of the group getting ahead of the person with the phone. The actual scanning is usually very fast from what we’ve seen.
Many delays with scanning tickets we’ve seen have been with one person holding all the group’s tickets to scan. That can go fast, but we’ve also seen situations where one ticket is scanned twice or one gets missed.

And tons of technical issues with phones....seriously, saw a couple of people take 10 minutes to get their parties scanned in using a phone, meanwhile those of us with tickets/magicbands used the other touchpoint in this case and about 30 people came in during that time. This was not an isolated incident, although some other times the party positioned themselves in a way that no one could reach the other touchpoint.

No, it really doesn't. We always have 4 app barcodes to scan. I just timed my son doing it at Incredicoaster. It took 6 seconds.

When you launch the app, on the home page you will see a window that says Disability Access Service. It will say the ride and the time. When the time comes up (or sometimes a few minutes early) a button will appear right underneath the time that says redeem. When you click on it, it will open up a page with your barcodes by name. You simply scan the DAS holder first, then once you get the ok from the CM, scan the rest. One phone can do everyone. You can just leave the phone inserted as you swipe across. Only the top half of your phone will go into the scanner. At some rides that don't have LL, a CM will use a hand scanner to do the same thing. It's very easy.

And yes, you will get a DAS button once you scan into a park.

One last question. I know in DW , you just show up at the ride to scan in. At DL, you have to wait for the button to appear ? Thank you so much for explaining it all to me!
