I am so thankful to have found this forum! Such great information :)

I am headed to Disneyland next month. This is the first time (even though I should have my last visit) that I will use an ECV. I have gone through Cancer treatment the last year and can no longer walk very far or stand for very long do to joint pain issues and lymphedema. I know the Disney website says if you use a ECV that you do not need a DAS card. However there maybe times that I want to walk a little and not use the ECV during our visit (really depends on how my body will let me handle the vacation). I am thinking I should get the DAS as well to make sure I'm covered if I'm not using the ECV.
Has anyone else out there done that as well or have any recommendations on that? Also what would you tell them for your disability? Do i have to just tell them what happens if I stand for long periods or walk, or do I need to tell them all my medical problems?

One other question....If for some reason the battery dies on the ECV (really hoping it won't but I like to be prepared with info just in case ;) ) are there any places in DL or DCA that you can charge your ECV?

Thank you for all your help! I am grateful to have others out there to turn to for help navigating through all this :)

The CM at Guest Relations will want to know you needs as they relate to waiting in line, not medical details. If your issues all related to standing for long times, they will most likely not issue a DAS.

:welcome: to the disABILITIES Forum!

The DL & DCA - Disability Access Service Card thread pinned near the top of this forum has the details of DAS in the first post (ignore the rest).

As PP mentions, if your needs are strictly mobility or stamina related, then Disney likely would not issue you a DAS. The accommodation is to use a wheelchair or ECV. You are welcome to park that and walk when you wish; there is no requirement to remain seated at all times. Note that DL in particular still has several attractions that are not accessible to mobility devices, and you will find that you are issued a "wheelchair return time" to use the accessible entrance for those attractions. This is not the DAS but acts much like it because you wait elsewhere until the window on your return card (also much like a FP); it is intended to keep the accessible entrances from getting backed-up. I believe most if not all of DCA is accessible through the standby or FP queues.

As for charging the ECV -- I have read of people re-charging at Downtown Disney, and there may be other locations as well. Hopefully someone with such experience will post.

Enjoy your vacation!
