Disneyland College Program Spring 09

Hi!, i am going on the same day as you. I think it's just me and another girl on here that are the Disneyland college program attendees. I could be wrong though.

What role did you get?
Are you staying in housing?
Male or female?
Over or under 21?

lol sorry for all the questions i'm just seeing if you might be a potential roommate of mine, other than Lauren (MiaTurner on DIS)

Glad to see we have someone else joining us!

Hey, glad to see another DL attendee! :)

Me and Britt got lucky meeting on here; finding roomies for such a small program is tough! So I agree, we'd love to know more about ya :)

My role - I was attractions but I needed the housing at the last minute so now I am working on a food cart. I am in the housing, Im male and over 21. Everyone else. Where is everyone coming from?

So whats your info

I got QSFB but my recruiter is looking into switching me into Attractions. No promises though! I'm staying in the housing, Britt is my roommate. I'm female and 19, both of which means me and Britt are ruled out as potential roomies :P Still, doesn't hurt to know people who are going!

Is anyone doing the program at Disneyland or is everyone doing Orlando?? Can someone tell me about their experience at the Disneyland program? ANyone out there?!?!

I have put this post to see if anyone is going to the Disneyland Resort and it seems everyone is going to Orlando. There has to be more people going to LA, right? Anyone??

The DLR has a much smaller program than WDWs, and the Dis is a much more WDW-focused board as a whole...

My main tip for those DLR CPers coming next semester, and probably for the forseeable future, is to develop a thick skin. Not only against the guests, but increasingly against the other CMs as well.

There's a lot of negative sentiment against the DLR CP right now because of the way its set up (they basically serve to deprive Casual Regular/Part Time CMs - who form the majority of non-CP CMs - of their hours).

In Attractions (along with the rest of the frontline CMs with the exception of Food & Beverage), our contract is coming up for renegotiation this coming year, and the Union's been floating around trying to figure out what we want before making an offer. A lot of people (from what I've heard) are saying that the most important priority, even over pay raises, is to eliminate or drastically reduce the size and benefits of the CP.

While we shouldn't really be holding participants responsible for the way the programme is designed, many CMs, especially in this economy, are poised to take their frustrations against the "evil CP" on them :(.

Hey everyone!! I'm 19 female with housing and im a food and beverage cast member. I'm from Phoenix, AZ and im headin to anaheim :)

Hey yall!!!

So I have a question about the DLRCP. Is it harder to get into than the WDWCP and when I apply for the WDWCP do I have the chance of applying for the DLRCP at the same time?

And somebody said earlier you had to develop a tough skin... eek!! I hail from the Deep South and even when people are "mean" down here they still have a touch of niceness about them. PS I can get sassy if I have too. :flower3:

19 female from tucson going into food and bev. Crazy coincidence! :P

ETA: Yes, it is harder getting into the DL program. WDW opens thousands of spots whereas DL only opens a few hundred.

LOL yeah i've lived in California all my life and people can be really hateful when it's not necessary. I don't see why you couldn't apply to both at the same time. And then if you get hired at both...don't accept one? lol idk call and ask or send them an email. I would say the DLRCP is harder to get into but not because it's better just because it's a much smaller program. :)

P.S i've always been told to kill em with kindness. People always end up feeling like jerks if you're still nice to them after they've been mean.

Good luck!

18 Female parking lot/tram attendant.
I'll be in housing also! What's your name? as you can probably tell, mine is Brittney. Nice to meet you. :goodvibes

The DLR CP is generally harder to get in than WDW's because, not only are we a much smaller resort (20,000 CMs compared to WDW 65,000 at last count); but also because, unlike our Floridian counterparts, certain areas impose limits on how many CPers can be admitted.

For example, the Food & Beverage contract limits that department to 150 CPers per semester, and mandates that they be spread out evenly through the department

I've also heard musings that the next Master Services contract, covering, among other things, Attractions, Costuming, Custodial, Resort Transportation & Parking/Parking Lot, Stores and Guest Services (Main Entrance: Ticket Sellers and Ticket Takers) will contain a similar provision, further reducing the number of spaces available.
