Okay, so, I've been having a VERY hard time choosing between majors. I either want to go to school for cuilnary management in baking and pastry, school to be a science teacher, or work within the Dinsey company. Now, theres two problems, it's hard to choose bc all of these things I've wanted to do for a LONG time. And the second being, I don't know what EXACTLY I want to do for Disney, like what major to go for a so on. And it's March, and applications are due soon, and I don't want to choose the wrong thing. So here's what I'm thinking!!

I could, instead of going to school this Fall, I could do the Disneyland CareerStart for Spring 09, because WDW is SWAMPED, and Disneylands E-presentation seems to have better classes for finding out what you want to do within the Disney company. And then at th end, see what my options are at Disney, and then decide what I want to do for College and then go to school next Fall 09 and do the WDWCP while I'm in school and do some professional internships.

Because even if I put off school a year I'll still be going into college on time, because I graduated high school a year early!

I am however a little frigtened bc California's Disneyland doesn't provide apartments like WDW does, but I still really want to!

What do you guys think?
Is all I need some faith and trust?
:tink:

Disneyland does provide apartments, but they're horribly managed, I wouldn't recommend it. (Plus there's lots of talk floating about them plugging housing next year, and possibly the program itself.)

However, when you're on CareerStart at DL, they won't offer housing. I Don't know if that's the same for WDW or not.

I hear WDW is the way to go if you wanna do the program. If you feel like you can't decide, I would recommend going to school for a semester and then doing the College Program instead; kinda gives you the best of both words.

Above all, don't be afraid to try it. If you love it, fantastic, if you hate it, it's no big deal; there's no hurry to make set-in-stone choices at our age :)

Good luck!!

Well I KNOW I am going to college, and I KNOW I'm going to do the college program in WDW, but CS at DL would help me to decide what to do for college.

WDW is swamped right now, and they arent talking anymore applications right now, even though when you call you always get a different answer.

The Careerstart will only be for figuring out my major, and DL will only be for the Careerstart, my heart belongs in Disneyworld.

But DL's CS has better courses to take about learning what you want to do then WDW does.

Thats why I want to do it.

WDW provides gated housing all the time. CS or CP. Disney owned and managed housing.

Honestly, I've been with the DLR for nearly two years now, and I have NEVER seen a Career Start Cast Member.

I'm not even sure they've ever had enough applicants to do the programme.

You can call DLR Casting on (800) 766-0888 and check with them.

Well, I know that they have the program and do accept applicants, I've seen the presentations and talked to recruiters, but thanks for the flag.

I don’t know what kind of degree you’re looking to get, but if you started your first semester of college taking some general required classes and then did your WDW CP, I think that would be an equally good use of time and you wouldn’t fall behind on a particular degree. You could even transfer your credits to another college if you were to decide you wanted to go somewhere other than where you started, after doing the WDW CP.

Career Start may help you figure out your major, and there are a lot of great Disney resources in CA, but sometimes taking the classes and learning about the department at your school might be the best way to decide what you want to study. You could also get a summer job in a bakery or work at a summer program for kids to try those things out.

I don’t know anything about the DLR Career Start, and it's probably excellent, but there are other options as well.

Good luck!
