Disneyland CA...where to stay on site?

Really wanted to stay on site during our first ever trip to DCa but learned that Grand Californian is/will be undergoing refurbishment/construction during the time we are there so that's kind of a turn off and I am hesitant to stay there for that reason.

So my question is if not the Grand Californian, which DCa resort would you choose. No kids on this trip and cost isn't an issue.

Thanks in advance for advice.

We love PPH but for your first trip and no kids I would definitely pick DLH!

No kids? I think I might still choose GCH. I'd also be tempted to do PPH Theme Park View Club Level. The rooms aren't luxurious (they are marriot quality) but the view is stunning and club level really adds to the experience. DLH club level gets you the perks of the club but the club might not be in the same building you are staying in and you won't get amazing view anywhere other than PPH.

DLH is our favorite. It's themed very much with the history of the park in mind. It is a bit of an hike to the Promenade.

People like any of the three for various reasons because of proximity, theme-ing and amenities. Funny thing is the most expensive has the smallest standard rooms (GCH) and the most affordable has the largest (PPH, which Disney bought after it was built).

Thanks for all replies but let me slightly tweak my original question; disregard any refurbishment or construction for a moment. If that was not going on, hotel cost not an issue what hotel would you stay at all other things (construction) being equal?

LOL. Totally depends. All other things are not equal. I would never choose GCH with my family of 4 make up and would likely prefer PPH theme park concierge. What is the most important to you in the hotel? Obviously not price. Is more of resort feel important or do you want a killer view? Is a feeling of exclusivity more important than the inconvenience of construction? Me personally, not taking my family into account, I would be torn between the DLH or PPH Theme PArk View with Concierge. And even if I am not concerned about money, I am never going to choose to pay more for a standard DLH room than PPH Concierge. Money may not matter but I can't ever really let go of the idea of value.

I've stayed at all three. Depends what you're looking for.

If you're looking for traditional "Disney magic" theming, the DLH is the only way to go. If you're looking for a more luxurious feel and more of an adult vibe at the pools, GCH. If you're looking for the best possible view of the park (especially at night) and don't care about the ambiance of the hotel itself, the PPH. (GCH does have theme park views but the PPH views are better I think. Although I don't like PPH because it's pretty plain.)

Personally I'd lean towards the DLH on a first trip, though. It's the original. :)

Thanks again all! Just booked for DLH premium view. Should be fun! Thanks again for replies.
