Planning a trip to Disneyland in August.

Is early August decent for crowds? We plan to use genie+.

Also, I think this is a long shot but does oogie boogie bash every happen in August?

If you have any other advice to add about visiting early august, feel free to recommend :)

No, Oogie Boogie bash does not start until late September.

Early August is good, but it will be hot. Be prepared for that.

I like August for crowds. I don't know if the heat keeps people away, but I generally have good luck with crowds in August. (I mean, it's Disneyland, it's ALWAYS crowded IMO, but it doesn't feel STIFLINGLY crowded then.)

But, yes, prepare for heat. It's SoCal, so you might get lucky and get a mild day, but it's also likely you won't. The heat is usually fairly manageable though, as long as you hydrate plenty and wear sunscreen and take enough breaks. (I'm from the desert though, so I might have a different perspective on that... lol.)

Thanks for the information :)

How does it compare to Florida in august? In Florida we’ve always done early mornings and evenings with pool breaks in between and found that worked well.

We did do a full day at Magic Kingdom last summer. I have to admit staying hydrated was rough! We actually brought in tons of water and still ended up buying a ton more there.

We are from the North so our only experience with *really* hot weather is Florida in July/August, lol. We have been having a lot more hot weather at home lately just more like 25C/77F hot, not 38C/100F lol.

Thanks! Not a must do for us since everything at DL is new to us anyway! We have wanted to visit for so long and we are finally able to do it. So excited :)

We were in DLR/DCA in August of 2021. The weather in SoCal is a dream compared to WDW in late summer. The difference is the humidity, or dew point temperature. We live in Louisiana, so our summer weather is similar to Florida, and it can be miserable in summer. SoCal also gets hot, but the dew point temp is 20 to 30 degrees lower.

That’s great to know! I don’t have a lot of experience with that type of heat but sounds like it will be fine.

Our last trip to WDW worked well because DD/DH have a similar tolerance for heat and would go back to the hotel when necessary, while DS and I could stay longer.

We have gone Easter break and while the weather is definitely nicer down south it’s worse here so flights aren’t as reliable. We could lose 2-3 days from our trip easily and I’m just not prepared to do that, lol.

Well, we have done DL in August seven (I think) times and WDW only once, if that tells you anything! :)

The only time we went to FL in August, all of us swore "never again!" It was not just the heat, which was well into the high 30's to mid 40's but the humidity is what just about killed us. DL in August usually taps out around the high 20's to mid 30's with much lower humidity. (All temps in C, obvs.)

We’ve done August several times before and found it totally doable. You get great hours, everything is pretty much open and the crowds aren’t as bad as some think. The weather was fine for us but we are from Phoenix so we are used to much hotter. 😜

I've done August at DL and WDW. Weather is obviously much better in Anaheim but the August crowd and WDW is much better. I just don't think people like going to Orlando in August. School usually starts 2nd week of August in Southern California so late August would be best for crowds, but there is no reprieve on weekends.

Heads up that Haunted Mansion will likely be down to get its holiday overlay installed in late August. So something to consider with timing.

Most schools in southern CA don't start until the third or 4th week of August.

FL schools largely start the first week of August.
