Disneyland APs from grocery store????

Has anyone ever had issues with annual passes purchased at the grocery store? We're considering buying them at Safeway but wanted to check here before making such a LARGE purchase.

I had no idea Safeway sold APs. I rarely shop at Safeway (it's one of the furthest stores from my house, so I make it there once or twice a year maybe), but I find purchasing an AP there intriguing. Do you mind if I ask what city/state you live in?

I'm in Northern California. I 've always noticed park hopper type passes, but recently saw they had APs there. It's a gift card found in their gift card display section. It says they must be first used by Dec 2012, which would totally work for us.

I have not had any issues buying tickets/passes/gift cards there, but I have seen people have issues on rare occasion, but as long as you have your receipts with you, you should be fine.

Keep in mind that there are two receipts when buying these, one shows that you paid for the card, the other is the activation receipt. It is a good idea to make a copy of both (in case you loose them or they are stolen) and bring the originals with you. This should allow Disney to fix any issues that you might have.

If you do this, be sure to buy when they are offering bonuses for buying gift cards, otherwise it's not worth the hassle as you would still have to go to the ticket booth to get your actual pass with your name on it.

Jack, the saving's usually is minimal... I think they are $10.00 cheaper, just more convenient. I have bought them many times at Safeway.
They work just fine.

Safeway sometimes gives bonus credits towards gas discounts for buying gc in their stores. I am also curious about the possibility of earning 5% back with the premier Disney Visa for buying through the store, too.

edit to add: no real savings other than also we could/would buy them now before an increase later in the year

Thanks for the thinking process, I never saw the value since it is so easy to do it on line. I always thought that there would be no problems with activation...safeway is one of the highest grocery stores around here so we never go,,,have a great trip.

There is zero direct savings. They are the same as at the park. The savings comes in any frequent buyer card credits earned, which would be a lot.
