Disneyland App Tickets and Fast Passes

Hi! We are going to DL next week and I was planning on purchasing our park tickets through the app so that they would be right on my phone and I wouldn't have to worry about losing anything. However, how does that work with FastPasses? I have never been to DL before, only WDW and in my memory of the old FastPasses at WDW I cannot think of how an app ticket or ETicket can work.

After they scan your barcode for admittance, you will receive a cardstock ticket that you will sign and they will assign a photo to (if it is more than 1 day). You will need to use this the rest of the time to get in and get FPs.
