Do Disneyland have AP rates on hotel rooms like in WDW? I'm just wondering whether it would be worth buying an annual pass if it can get us a good rate at the GCH?

Thanks :D

Hi mazzy,
I'm sure they do some sort of rates, we bought the Deluxe AP and the only blockout days were the first 3 saturdays in August so we sometimes just jumped on the bus and went down for the fireworks and that was that for the day so we never wasted any days. We cerationly had our moneys worth from the passes as we used them almost every day for 28 days.
This year as we will be there for 4th July, the blockout days will include the run up to 4th July so we are getting a 4 day hopper then upgrading to a Deluxe AP.

Hi Mazzy. :wave2:

I can't speak from experience since I don't have an AP yet, although like you, I am also thinking about buying one, but I have read reports from others who've stayed at DLH and PP for $89 per night.

I don't know how often you can get AP discounted rates for the Disneyland resort hotels, or what time of year they come out, etc... So I would like to know myself. Hopefully someone with more AP experience and knowledge will chime in. :sunny:

Thanks everyone, looks like the annual pass might be the way to go, especially if we can get room discounts. As we will be staying around a week, we can manage with the cheaper pass with the august saturday's blocked out. :D

AP rates are rare during the summer months. The rate just offered in January at $89.00 PP or DLH was nice. You will not see rates like that in the summer. The 50th celebration has brought in lots of guests willing to pay full fare for the resort rooms so I wouldn't expect anything better than the 10% AAA/CAA/AP standard discounts. You can get those now for August. Any special rates like the one that just expired are not released until about a month out(this varies with the offer).

My cousin and her family went to DL with us this last September 2005, and they had annual passes. Although the dates were a little limited (I don't think they were able to use it for their whole stay), they did get some dates at 199 per night at the Grand Californian. Of course this is value season.

We have premium AP's, and if you are considering them just for the onsite hotel discounts, I would not buy them. The flat hotel discount is 10% off, which doesn't bring the high rates down much. They sometimes run specials in the off-season, but they are limited to only a certain amount of rooms, so you have to be on top of calling and also a bit lucky to get it sometimes. There are many other great benefits to buying an AP, though, like dining & merchandise discounts and free parking. If you're going on more than 2 trips in the year or for an extended amount of days, then it is definately worth the AP. Good luck! :)

Thanks everyone for your help. :D

Disappointing it doesn't look likely we would get a good AP rate for the hotel, but I think an AP would still work out good value for us, as we will be there a few days.

Thanks again. :thumbsup2

You can call and make a reservation for an AP rate (you don't need your card yet to make a reservation). Then if you get a good deal you could decide to buy an AP. If your date is in the future then you could make a reservation elsewhere that you could cancel if you ended up getting a good AP rate. If the AP rate didn't work out then you could just keep your plan B hotel.... just a thought.

Thanks RKB, for your comments. Yes I think I will definitely be booking a Disneyland hotel and hope that nearer the time an annual pass rate may be available - thanks for your help. :D
