<font color=navy>In the early/mid 90's, Disneyland did try a Halloween celebration. I think it only lasted two years. The first year was great - beautiful theming, and the cast members became part of the rides - in Pirates, we couldn't tell the cast members from the Animatronic pirates - it was so much fun. The next year they did this, I think only 2 or three lands were open. It was a great concept for kids & their families, but it did not generate enough money for Disney to continue.
Part of the problem is about 10 minutes away by freeway, you have Knotts Scary Farm (recommended for 13 and older because of the scary effects) that is a huge success - you also have competition from Universal Studios and 6 Flags Magic Mountain.
I'm glad that Disneyland offered this when my own were little, as we really enjoyed it. However, if they were given the choice today, they'd pick Knotts Scary Farm (they're now 13 & 14).
