Disneyland and DVC

Can you use points towards any properties at Disneyland.

I wanted to try Disneyland this time instead of Disneyworld

Yes - you can use points at both the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian. In fact, as part of the 50th Celebration, DVC lowered the points required for stays at those hotels.
