WE may have to cancel our Christmas time trip :( We may be able to go during spring break but I'd be 4-5 weeks away from my due date. We'd be driving. Has anyone done DL this far pregnant? Was it awful?

I personally wouldn't drive that far and be that far away from home that close to my due date. You are at a higher risk for blood clots during late pregnancy and would have to have frequent stops to walk around during your drive.

I'd do it in a heart beat lol. You may waddle a bit like a penguin though lol and get tired quickly but rides like It's a small world and Pirates would make great rest stops. It's not as if you'd be missing out on rides you would have done at christmas time. :)

I went at 18 weeks and I was not so keen on all the walking but it was 90 degrees so I was hot a lot - winter is much betters. It was disneyworld which I know is bigger.

I was just 8 months pregnant and you couldn't pay me enough to go to disney at that point but I am not a skinny in excellent physical shape take an hour a walk per day pregnant woman. If you're one of those you may be fine.

Driving from where? Personally, I'd say no just because you'd be cutting it so close and if you are anywhere north of LA on I-5 and south of the Bay Area, there isn't any place for you to get medical help if needed. My doctor made me stay with in 1-2 hrs of home after 35 weeks. Have you talked to your doctor?

Personally, as much as I love Disney, I think I would have been miserable. Too much walking, too tired, too sore.

I would have been miserable. At that point nothing is comfortable, you can't find a good position to sleep in and you are tired and need a lot of naps.

I've done it and it's not awful. I had a great time, stopped a lot and watched the kids a lot (this was my first pregnancy, so I spent a lot of time thinking about taking my own kids one day!) I enjoyed the things I didn't usually slow down enough for. That being said, I was only 2 hours from home and I had an AP, so I wasn't worried about getting anything "in".

I hate to say it, but I don't think I'd go from very far away at that point. I'd be more worried about the long drive and being that far from home than the actual part at DL. Yes, there are hospitals nearby, but I don't know what's between your home and DLR if something were to happen on the way to or from. Driving more than a couple hours at 8 months pregnant sounds absolutely miserable to me.

Hate to agree, but I was so fatigued during my trip last January at 7 months pregnant. I spent most of the time looking forward to sitting down. Missed a lot of rides and instead spent time with my 14 month old niece (we shared naptimes back at the hotel). I had really bad back and pelvic pain though.

I guess this just depends on you and your personal stamina level. I have done disneyland with all 5 pregnancies. Even twins. I am a self admitted Disneyland Junkie! My last baby I went 8 months pregnant and then took the baby back when she was 10 weeks old. ( she is 9 now and is a Disney junkie too! )
So it really depend on your doctor... Mine was ok with the 6 hour drive ... He just said stop every hour and walk around the car a few times.
I say if you feel like it do it! But if you think you will be miserable then do it later.
For us cost was not an issue we had annual passes so I didn't feel like I needed to get the best bang for my buck . If this I your one trip in a couple years and you will not be going back for awhile then perhaps you should wait. Lots to factor in... But if you decide to go..... Rest plenty, drink lots of fluid and enjoy the happiest place on earth !!!! Good luck with whatever you choose.

I had awesome pregnancies. I felt better pregnant than not. I went when I was 8 months pregnant with my second. We had a blast. My sister in law was pregnant at the same time so we spent a lot of time taking our younger children to rides we could all go on. I think to go or not needs to between you and your doctor. I traveled from Utah to California so it wasn't as far as you.

I've never done DL pregnant so can't comment about that part but I see that you are from the same neck of the woods as me! My big concern would be being out of Canada that close to your due date. I had my son only 2 weeks early but know a fair amount of people who had 32-36 week babies. What would be your plan if you went into labour in the States and could not get back to Canada?

If not this Christmas, maybe look at a late Spring, early Summer visit with the little one?

I can't see tickers or any "extra" info on the iPad app - the OP is coming from Canada? Then I absolutely wouldn't! A hospital would deliver the baby if needed, but the hospital bills, should it happen, would be extremely high. Added to that, if you were to go into labor early and your baby had a NICU stay, would you be prepared to stay in the states that long? Added, that if you did drive and had to stop every hour to avoid blood clots, what kind of drive are you looking at?

The Disneyland part wouldn't be so bad - you could take it at your pace, but it's the getting there & back that would worry me. And as I said, my doctor wouldn't let me travel that far away, that far along. All of my babies came early, on their own.

Could you postpone until summer when the baby would be a few months old?

It all depends on the person, I had preterm labor with both of my daughters. That much walking at 8 months would have been out of the question. (Has any one given birth in Disneyland before?) haha! I didn't have any problems until my last trimester. I just wouldn't count in it that late in the game. You never know what will come up by then.

We went twice when I was preggo with baby #4, once at about 5 months and again at about 7 months, was it awful no but it wasn't wonderful either. Five months in was just a trip for dh and myself so I was content to sit while he did the rides I couldn't do (and lets be real I don't usually choose to do those rides anyways) and the rest of time we were able to just take our time and eat lots of yummy treats. Seven months in we went with our other three kids and dh's brother and sister in law and their kids, I go to be the designated babysitter for the kids that were too little to ride. It was a lot harder to be happy and calm and enjoy the moments when my feet were swollen and I was so uncomfortable. We only had about an 8 hour or so drive but it looks like you might be from Canada, I just don't think I would chance it that close to the end. Good luck with whatever you do decide. :)

I would advise you to ask your doctor. If you lived in the area, I would say go for it, but a 12 hour drive each way is a long time when you are pregnant. Add to it, should you go into labor early, it could be a problem. My DIL had a perfect pregnancy, until she went into labor at 35 weeks, followed by 2 weeks in NICU. Totally unexpected. You don't want to go through that so far from home and your doctor.

It looks like you are coming in from BC, and plan on driving. According to Google Maps, that's a 19.5 hour drive. Having to stop every hour or two to stretch, even for just 5 minutes, to avoid blood clots and such, would add on another 100 minutes, pushing it up to 21 hours. Driving 8-9 hours a day, even 10 hours, would mean this would still take you 2+ days of driving. And that's not figuring in stopping for a meal, or finding a drive-thru, or potty breaks that happen between "stretch breaks". ... And then that extra 30 pounds of weight, all those kids there on Spring Break, all that walking....

And then, like others have pointed out, you'd be 2 days away from home if (G-d forbid) you went into labor early. The nightmare of being that far away from "my" doctor, "my" hospital, "my" birth team would drive me bonkers, along with the realization that hospital charges may or may not be covered. (Admittedly, I have no idea how your healthcare coverage works when you leave the country, but, locally, if someone on our Medicaid program goes into another state to see a doctor, rarely is it ever covered, and we're minutes away from a state border.)

It's tough for me to ever dissuade someone from going to Disneyland, but in your case, I think I'd choose to wait. :sad1:

My youngest came at 36 weeks, 1 week nicu no problems with pregnancy, 2nd child was 4 days late, honestly I do not think pregnancy is a good time to travel.

My second baby arrived 4 wks early. I had no health issues and nothing was wrong with the baby. It would worry me to be so far away from home.

Thank you for all the opinions! I hadn't gotten as far as thinking about possibilities. This is my 6th baby and none have come before my due date. However delivering in the U.S is a huge concern. It was just a crossing thought, of course we've decided not to.

I couldn't see how far you were coming from either. Well my advise is wait until the baby is a little older and then make the magic trip!
