60th celebration begins May 22nd.

New world of color: celebrate
The Wonderful World of Walt Disney

DCA's Carthay Circle and Sleeping beauty castle at DL will get diamond overlays.

Paint the night parade has been confirmed for Disneyland

New fireworks called Disneyland Forever.
Will cover entire park, Main Street projections, castle projections, Matterhorn projections, pyro everywhere. Richard Sherman has wrote two new songs for the show.

That sounds like it has potential. Any rumors on how long it will last?

DL's castle size has always been a disadvantage at night time entertainment, so I'm glad they found a way to take their firework shows even further. I'm also really looking forward to Paint the Night (which apparently will feature at least one additional float than HK's version) and of course World of Color. Hopefully they'll announce Fantasyland's refurbs soon.

I believe through the holidays from what at least the rumors have said. Fireworks, parade, and shows will probably last much longer.

I have heard two additional floats.

Hey rteetz, I didn't follow the event last night. Did they mention anything about how the Main Street overflows will be utilized for the projection show? They were basically designed for this event so I'm assuming that they have a plan.

Really this a clever excercise. Either they could've upped the amount of fireworks which would have cost more, or they could use projectors that don't start fires, will come on at the flick of switch, and all for very little added cost. All the while they'll be heralded as innovative. Smart indeed...

The 60th is shaping up to be great!

No they did not mention that. Mainly just said what the entertainment was gave a quick preview of some mainstreet projections and it was done.

Alright, thanks. We'll have to see about how that plays out. They seemed to have just created an incentive to stay right in the middle of main street to see everything. Backwards...

this all looks incredible! any speculation if the celebration will carry over to the east coast like to 50th? :goodvibes

I wish they would let ppl know how long it will last. I am trying to get to wdw this Christmas. Now I'm wondering if I should try to take 1000 i had for wdw and put it to a small quick dl trip sometime end of summer or begging of fall.

Well I would expect the fireworks, world of color, and parade to stay for years. The reforms of the attractions will also be here from now on as well. Just the castle overlay and special events that will come throughout the year will last until the holidays at least I would assume so.

I asked a CM about this when I was there, and he said that while they hadn't made any sort of plans, the Year of a Million Dreams lasted for longer than a year, so he wouldn't be surprised if it carried over...

During the event's Q&A imagineers said that the new shows will run even during the holidays, so I'm guessing the special offering will last until early 2016.

It would be strange for them to put all that money in new shows and only have them run for a year. The celebration itself be one year long, but these new entertainment options will probably stay longer/come back during peak seasons... At least, I hope so for we don't plan to visit Disneyland in 2015/2016 :)

The celebration starts on May 22 and will last for a year.

The official day is July 17.

My wife and I were considering a trip out west to visit her parents this summer, which always includes a day at Disneyland. Getting to see the celebration may be the thing that makes this a definite plan!
