Disneyland 5k

When is it? I might be interested! I need to find the information of all the Disney races. I'm just getting back into running so a 5K sounds great right now.
 
OK I'm gonna have to look this up. Would be a good goal to set. Everyone join in the fun with us!
 

My DD and i ran it this year, and my DH did the 1/2 marathon. We had quite a big group there (The WISH team from the WISH board)
 
Judy, did you walk and run it or did you run the whole way.

I was thinking of ordering a W.I.S.H shirt to sport while I ran it.
 
I would love to, but the dates make it near impossible, not to mention being a blackout weekend for the deluxe AP. ;)
 
We had trained to just a 15 min/mile walking pace, but most of the time we were unable to have that quick a pace due to the crowds, so we did a lot of jogging just to keep on pace. If you watch/listen to the video you can hear my DD and i worried about our pace, but at the end of it all once we timed how long it took us to get to the start, we did 16/min miles. Not bad considering slowing down for all of the characters etc!

Judy, I liked the video! Thanks for sharing it. I thought about videotaping this morning when I was jogging through our neighborhood and cracked up. What a great rememberance though!
 
Hey everyone....I just signed up for the 5k yesterday......this will be the first one i have ever done.....looking forward to it.....so let the training begin!! Any hints??

I am also going to disneyland over spring break....march 14-16.....yea!!:cool1:
 
Yeah AZRose. I think there is a thread on the W.I.S.H. board of people who are running this. I want to find it too and get some motivating tips.

Judy, is the thread specifically for the DL 5K or is it a general discussion on the W.I.S.H. board. I would love to join! thanks for your help.
 
There is a thread on the WISH board regarding getting started and prepared. There are big recommendations for the book Marathoning For Mortals ( which I am going to pick up tomorrow) and a program called Couch to 5k which comes recommended highly from DISers and other runners that I know.

Thanks spazzy! I'm headed to check that out. I've ran the Race for the Cure in downtown Phoenix but I hurt my leg and had to get surgery shortly afterwards. I havent ran much in the last 3 years because of it. It's time to realize that my legs has recovered and get out and run.

I saw a really cute shirt when we did it. I think it's the motto for a high school running team it said:

Run like you stole something.

That always makes me laugh!
 
my son and I have started power walking at night with my husband close behind us smoking a cigarette trying to catch up with us. :lmao:
 
BTW I just checked out that link. GREAT information. My biggest downfall is trying to run like I did 3 1/2 years ago. I could run 5 miles nonstop then. Now not even a mile and I get discouraged. This is really gonna help me. Thank you!
 
Too bad we didn't live closer. I would totally run and train with you. I need a better partner other than my husband.
