Thanks for the link!! I notice you're running the RnR San Diego half in June! So am I!!
I'm also doing the SD Half.![]()
Good luck this weekend ladies!! Hopefully we'll have great weather! And just think, in 3 short months, we'll be doing the same thing in beautiful and wonderful Disneyland!!!
I was able to see the Disneyland Half Marathon medal in person yesterday at the San Diego Rock & Roll Half Marathon. It's very nice! It's bigger than it looks in the picture.
I also asked about the Tink medal and was told that it will be Tink's wings with a Tink in the middle that spins! Sounds cool and knowing Disney it will be awesome!
Saw the medal as well. I was surprised how heavy it is! But it was very pretty. Can't wait to wear it!!
That SD 1/2 marathon was no joke! Wow. Training in Phoenix did not prepare me for the inclines and wow, that 163 was a complete killer. I really hope the Disneyland 1/2 is a lot flatter!

I never knew SD was so hilly! Lol. It killed me too! And that bank on the 163, wow! I was very greatful to the girls passing out Otter Pops on the 163. It helped a lot at that point.

Hi girls! That's so funny you mentioned the 163!! I thought the same thing last year, and I lived there and drove on the 163 for 5 years!! I do have to say, driving is much easier and you don't really notice the incline as much.
DL is much flatter. The only inclines are the overpasses and coming up from the underpass. A tip about the underpasses~ the start line is at the beginning of the underpass under DTD. So you get a little downhill/uphill right off the bat.
Took this at the Expo for the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon this past weekend. That is my DD's hand holding up the medal (she's 7) so you get a sense of just how big this baby is!
You must have been in a closer corral than me because nobody was handing out Otter Pops but I noticed all the trash on the road.
For me, the incline wasn't the killer, it was that slant in the road. My right leg was doing all the work! I tried to run in the gutters but that wasn't much help. After the race, the majority of the pain I felt was in my right leg above my thigh. Ouchy!!
The first thing I did when we got home today was check DL's site about the course. And it does mention "flat" so I'm good with that. SD's site never said anything about "flat".Thanks for the warning about the overpass. On the drive home today, I was going over the SD race in my head and realized that if it weren't for the surprising challenges we face on race days (or training days) we wouldn't realize our true potential. Although I didn't hit my goal time, I was able to realize about myself that I can face a difficult road and still cross the finish line. A win is a win, right?
I am doing Disneyland and then Wine and Dine in early Oct. Am I crazy?
