Did anybody try the Boardwalk brownie cheesecake recipie in the last Disneyfiles magazine? Looking for reviews before i go forth in snow to buy the ingredients;)

It sounds great but need to make something for a party i'm attending and don't have time to do a dry run.

I checked it out, because I love making cheesecakes, but I wasn't impressed with the ingredients list, so I didn't proceed.

It seemed easy, big plus for me lol

I'll post back if I decide to give it a whirl:)

I made it on Sunday. It had mixed reviews - I followed everything to the tee but I came up short on a few ends. It was not nearly as good as the bakery's version. I had the real deal in August and it is definitely a must do on my next trip to BWV. I too am a cheesecake kind of guy so that part was a hit. The top got a little too brown but the flavor was still pretty good. What was not so good was my brownie. It came out with a slight burn on the bottom and the brownie was too dry - so says my wife. The kids loved it since Dad would let them have it as an after school snack and I liked it since it reminded me of the boardwalk. My only question was what type of pan to use? It called out for a 13 x9 baking pan. I used a glass baking pan which might have caused the burn but the dryness I am not sure on. It was firm like the original but not to flavorful. Maybe I should have used a metal non stick? I am by no means a chef but it just lacked a little magic or something. Not sure I would try it again. Just remember anyone can cook!

zimboys thanx, think i'll skip then wanted something to 'wow' other guests, time to dig out recipie box for old standbys

I wondered how the brownies could bake 1st 30 minutes then another 55 - 60 & not wind up burning. Have page still on my desk and notice it only specifies "baking pan - 13 X 9 X 2":confused3

If you are looking for the "wow" factor try looking up a turtle cheesecake reciepe from Paula Deen - I made it a few years ago for a party and it will set everyone back a notch. Easy to make and really rich. Good luck

Try making a pumpkin cheesecake. I did that last year, and this year they have all requested it again! It's super easy too, and the topping is nothing more than sour cream. YUMMMMMY!

Ovens are very tempermental. At least mine is. It does seem like an awful long time for baking the brownie. When I make cheesecake in my oven at home I now use the bottom rack for baking. I found if I use any of the higher racks the top browns fast. Amazing the bottom doesn't over bake but that's my oven. I also use DeMarle baking pans. They do not over brown things and keep things moist. I have no idea how they do it. They are made in France. As a disclaimer I do not sell these or anything but I have enough to start a store. But I wouldn't buy them if you aren't a regular baker. Also, the sizes are relative for most of their products unless you have to have the typical rectangle. They go by volume in France and the pans are huge.

I have a convection oven ,and that seems to work really well for cheesecake. I usually bake them at 350 for an hour with the convection on.
