I'm taking a cheap vacation this year. I'm going to Universal Orlando for the first time. How is the crowds the first week of Oct. Is the meal plan for $21.00 worth it?

The crowds in October aren't bad during the day but if you're going on a night when HHN is staged, the Studios will get crowded in the afternoon. You have to eat a lot of food on the Meal Deal to make it worth the money.

We travel down the first part of October every year and as Metro said, the daytime crowds aren't too bad. On nights when HHN is being held, they do close the studios side at 5:00 pm to get ready for the event.

We've never done the meal deal as there are lots of good restaurants we like to visit that aren't included.

if you are in the park, studio side, on a day the hhn event will happen in the evening, crowds will take over in the park around 2ish..

Just got back from Universal. I think the meal deal is worth it if you plan to eat counter service while you are there for both lunch and dinner. We ate one meal counter service...we had:
chicken parmesan (sp?)
2 personal pizzas
1 fruit plate (probably not included in meal deal)
3-4 drinks (can't remember if hubby and I shared or not) (drinks aren't included in meal deal)
and possibly a side of fries? (again can't remember)
from the Internation Food and Film Festival and it costs us 42 dollars!! That would have paid for hubby and my meal deal (well, ok, not entirely since drinks aren't included..) (We have a 2 and 4 yo so I think we would have had to just buy one kid meal deal so it would have cost us 53 dollars I think in meal deals). But we weren't planning to eat dinner there so we didn't.

Alittle off topic but with the meal deal best rest at the Studios are IFF is great but my fav is Louies, the best pizza there!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the replys. I won't be going to HHN, so I guess we will be alright then during the day. I think we will try the dining plan for a couple of days. I mostly eat C.S., so I'm going to try it. If it doesn't work out than I'm not alot of money.
