Hello All

First time writing a trip report. Don't feel like I will do it justice, but I did make a video of the trip. Please check it out.

Anyway, our family has been DVC members since 2011. This trip we decided to celebrate my nephews January birthday with just the guys. So our group consisted of me, DS(4), Nephew(5), my brother in law, and my dad(Grandpa).

I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, but my family has lived in Tennessee the last 3 years. DS and I stayed in a hotel down in Memphis so we could catch Saturday flight at 6:25am. The other half of the group had a noon flight out of Cincy.

DS was too excited to nap on the plane, but he pushed right on through the full day like a champ. We landed at MCO and on our way to the Magical Express stopped in at the Disney store so he could trade some pins. We caught the Magical Express and DS was a little disappointed that we had the yellow Mears bus. After a few short stops we made it to Saratoga Springs. Our room wasn't ready being it was only around 10am so we caught the bus to Downtown Disney.

At Downtown Disney we scoped out the new Disney toys and gear. DS always has to ride the Carousel and then we stopped in at the Pin Store. We were able to get the Frozen Valentine pin, the Beauty & the Beast Shield pin, and the new Disney Visa card pin(Captain Hook and my favorite Mr. Smee). I was glad to find the first two because I have never been to Disney as a pin trader right when a small edition size pin had been released.

Next we caught the bus to make a 1pm ADR at Beaches & Cream. I have read a lot about B&C and have never been over to Beach Club, so we knocked out two birds with one stone. It was a little chilly, but there were still a few brave kids out swimming. This made my DS have a one track mind and all he could think about was going swimming. He asked multiple times if he could just take his clothes off and get in. Beaches & Cream was a lot smaller than I expected, but the atmosphere and food both delivered. DS got hot dog and I got the cheeseburger with the ham and grilled onions on it(can't remember the name). I decided to get a strawberry milk shake because DS's meal came with a kids sundae(scoop of ice cream with Oreos for mouse ears). After seeing a few desserts come out to other guests I quickly regretted my choice. While we were there 3 different tables took on the challenge of a mini kitchen sink. I would recommend anyone to plan a stop here for dessert.

I got the text that our room was ready so we headed back to Saratoga. After the first leg on the bus we decided to try the walk from Downtown Disney to Saratoga. It was a nice walk, but wore us out. We got our luggage to the room and changed for the pool. DS did not forget. Our room was right next to the Paddock pool so we went there. We have stayed in that section before and I was excited to try the water slide. Unfortunately when we got there, the pool was under construction. In September I took my wife to Wilderness Lodge for our anniversary and the pool was closed for construction too. Disney did a good job telling us about that one, but I don't remember hearing anything about this one. Luckily the little splash ground was still open. After I touched the water I was glad the big pool was closed. I had a lot of fun trying to convince my 4 year old to stand under the barrel that drops a big splash of water every few minutes, but I couldn't trick him.

We headed back to the room, changed, and walked up to the main building for the arrival of the Cincy group. I will pick up from there another day. Look forward to any pointers.

Thank you for sharing!!! You're doing a great job with your 1st trip report :) I really enjoyed your GoPro video. We used a GoPro for the first time this past October and really enjoyed it! Looks like you guys had a fantastic "dude trip", LOL!

So the Cincy group arrived and my Dad checked into the other room. It was very interesting when I checked in. I was trying to verify that they had our rooms near each other. I am a Jr, so the fact that the rooms were under the same names really confused the Disney check in staff. After we got the check in taken care of we quickly walked to the room, dropped luggage off and headed to Downtown Disney. We didn't make reservations because we weren't sure of the time for Magical Express. We wanted the two boys to get an early bed time so we could make rope drop so we just grabbed Earl of Sandwich and BIL stopped to get his Annual Pass figured out at guest services.

Sunday morning was very cold and we layered up and got our winter hats on as we hit the bus stop right at 8am. The Animal Kingdom bus showed up 2 minutes later and we made it to Animal Kingdom before 8:30am. This was good that we made it in time, but it also stinks sometimes to have to stand around and wait for rope drop. Right at rope drop we walked right on to Kilimanjaro Safari, a favorite for DS. Then we cut all the way across the park to DinoLand. First we played around with some shots on the GoPro and then walked onto Triceratop Spin. By this time Grandpa had already scoped out and traded for some cool pins for the boys. He really has an eye to find good pins to trade and the grandkids always reap the benefits. DS was just tall enough to ride Dinosaur and up to that point was excited to ride after watching YouTube videos leading up to our trip. This is where first trip melt down occurred when DS decided he was scared now and Grandpa decided to stay with him while the rest of group walked on to the ride.

We were doing great on time before our Fastpass+ times started at Hollywood Studios so we let the boys run around with the GoPro and Junior Chesty mount at The Boneyard. BIL went to the Allergy friendly kiosk to pick up some snacks for my sister, his wife. Women and their requests, just kidding. We met up at Yak & Yeti right at 11am and got an early lunch since none of us ate much of a breakfast. We had a stomach bug going around our house and I was starting to feel bad so I decided to just stick with water until dinner. The food was good as normal per the group, but it looked like the trays and some of the menu had changed slightly. The group headed to the buses and we quickly got on a bus for Hollywood Studios.

We wanted to spend a good chunk of the day for my nephew who is a big fan of Toy Story, Big Hero 6, and of course Star Wars. I made some Baymax shirts for everyone with my wife's Silhouette Cameo so the Photo Pass photographer pointed us to a special Photo Pass spot where the magic shot puts you in a video with Baymax. We headed to the Baymax line, where DS was excited to give a fist bump and say Hairy Baby. As soon as he saw a character, melt down number two. So Grandpa and my nephew got in line while DS and I played with some of the games in the area. My nephew lasted two minutes in line before wanting to go ride a ride. We just missed the Disney Junior show so we went to Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. We had never went in there before and the boys both ran non stop until it was our Fastpass+ time for Toy Story Mania. If you have never been it, you should check it out. It will make you want to Netflix the movie like I did this week and realize how far the movie industry has come. Don't miss the sniffing dog nose.

Toy Story Mania was a blast as always. I won't share my score because I don't want to embarrass myself. We headed to Star Tours to experience the dark side and melt down number 3 happened. DS said he would only ride Dumbo, so we let the Cincy group hit the rides and we went back to the room for a nap. I will keep writing soon, but that is all I have time for today.

Following along! Sounds like a good start to the trip...but I'm worried about that stomach bug...I hope it didn't hit anyone.

Great report! Enjoyed the video! GoPro's have certainly changed the way we capture life!
