Sunday, 9/30/01, or “The Princess (and Prince) Diaries"

It was a huge struggle to wake up on Sunday, though Mickey cheerfully called us at 6:00am. Since I figured it was a recording rather than the REAL Mickey, I had a few choice words for the Mouse and hung up the phone. :D

I tried to get out of bed and had a very difficult time of it. As soon as I stood up, there was an enormous amount of pain radiating through my abdomen. Of course, rather than do the sensible thing and call a doctor, I decided I could be butch and handle it. Whatever. Stupidity has its rewards. I just can’t recall what they are.

We were out of the room and at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom by 7:45am, in time for our date with the princesses at Cindy’s Castle.

The train station all dressed up for the 100 Year Celebration

After checking our waist packs, etc., we were let into the Magic Kingdom. I managed once again to get all misty-eyed once the castle came into view. Don’t know what it is called except Magic.

Cindy’s Castle was an absolute zoo. I’ve never seen so many little princesses all dolled up in their costumes waiting to meet the REAL princesses. We had an 8:00 PS, and were seated immediately at a table that looked out over Fantasyland. Our waiter, Alberto something (VO5?) served us the standard breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes, juice, fruit and coffee. He kept bowing in a very stately manor to us. I kept thinking to myself, “If you’re going to bow, why not just get down on your knees as well? I’m sure I have my whip here somewhere….” I got a horrible case of the giggles, and practically had to be carried out of the place. I know….I’m a horrible person who is entirely too cynical for my own good.

And suddenly, without warning, a virtual parade of princesses came to our table. We met Cinderella (her picture didn’t come out), Aurora, Mary Poppins, Belle, Prince Charming, and Alice.

disneycub and Mary Poppins. Malcolm observed that the reason she had so many ruffles on top was because she had no … never mind.

A tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast. The Beauty is to the right. Such flawless skin, such kissable lips! She wasn’t bad either.

This is Prince Charming? I bet his teeth glow in the dark. Sorry, honey, you’re just not my type. Bring me the Beast!

Anyway, we had a great time at Cindy’s. Alice came to our table asking me if I’d seen the white rabbit. Maybe it was the pain pills, but I found that hysterically funny. She left in a big hurry. Total bill with tip: $39.82

Le Keys to the Kingdom Tour

After breakfast, we proceeded over to City Hall, where we met Brick, our tour guide for the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. Yes, that’s his real name. He was full of personality and was a total crack-up. We got a lot of information about the history of the Magic Kingdom, rode the TTA and the Haunted Mansion. We also got to go into the Utilidors for a short while, and view the Magic Kingdom “Share A Dream Come True” parade snow globes up close and personal. Too cool!

By the time the tour was over (around 3:00pm) I thought I was dying (but I really wasn’t). The pain was getting worse, and I knew that if I went to the hospital, I’d be there for hours with no diagnosis and a huge bill. Carry on, Carry Over, Cary Grant, Carry Me Back to Old Virginee.

At my request, we went back to the resort and I slept for a while, only to wake up realizing we had tickets to Cirque du Soleil for that evening. OMG, into the shower, out to the car, race like maniacs to Downtown Disney.

La Nouba was wonderful. This is the second time I’ve seen it, and it never fails to amaze me. Plus it didn’t hurt that we got $20 off the ticket price for being an Annual Passholder. Disney Security was in evidence at the door, checking everyone’s bags, etc. They pulled a pair of scissors, a nail file and the like from the purse of a little old lady. She really looked like a terrorist in disguise to me. But they were just doing their job.

Got back to the resort around 8:00 whereupon I passed out on the bed.

Another great report. Sorry to hear about your stomach, though. :( We did Keys to the Kingdom in June and it was great. We saw the Spectromagic floats. I would've much rather seen the snow globe parade ones. Those look so cool!!

Beth

The really neat thing about the snowglobe floats is that most of them have hidden Mickeys somewhere. For instance, the Pinnochio float has a mini "Partners" statue on one of the bookshelves.

Steve-

I am loving your reports! You have some sense of humor! Please keep them coming:)

Uh oh, the start of the big H! Sorry about your pain.

The Keys to the Kingdom tour and La Nouba sound like great fun. I'm amazed that you could manage, feeling like you did.

Great pics from Cindy's!

Thanks!

Kim :)

Well, Kim, I was pretty surprised I did as well as I did too. Not without some major whining however.

Best way I can explain it....."I spent all this money to get here, and I WILL have a good time!!"

:::applauding::: Love it Steve! More, More, More........ :D

I just love your humor!! All this humor and you're in pain, makes you wonder how you are when your pain free.

Have you went to your Dr. yet?
Gerri

Thanks all. Generally I try to keep my "left of center" humor no matter what's going on.

No real help from the doctor yesterday. She just gave me a referral to a surgeon, who I'll see on Monday. In the meantime, I'm supposed to take it easy. Like that's gonna happen. :D

Another fabulous trip report! Hoping you feel better {{{pd}}}
Love the pictures at Cindy's house, that must have been a sight with all the little prince and princesses loitering about :D

I really enjoyed the princess pictures! (And the hat was just too perfect! Poor Belle!)

I want to be there!

Belle saw the hat of course, and said something to the effect of:

"Why, you don't look like a Beast. You look like a Prince to me!"

Belle is now my favorite princess. :D

Steve -- it is very good to read your trip reports. I am hoping that you are feeling better now. You gave no indication during the Keys to the Kingdom Tour that you were not feeling well! BRAVO for you. It was wonderful meeting you and Malcolm that day and talking to both of you.

I haven't been over to Trip Reports Board in a while. What a laugh you have given me! I'm off to read the other installments! Great reporting!! ;)

And, I love the pictures, too!

Hope you feel better! The DIS Boards will help though. I spent all my time here when I was recovering from Hernia surgery a few years back! I'm sending some "get well" Pixie Dust your way...

:)

My DD was one of the "dolled up" girls in the princess costumes on that very morning at our 8:00 AM PS. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast!

:-) Cara
