ok so i usually watch disney channel and lately i have been V E R Y disappointed. Walt Disney started his empire with the inspiration of a mouse and the love for art. The shows used to be comedy with the same characters where everyone new them, they are known as the fab 5. Today the shows are mainly about vain girls and drama
ex.
1hannah montana- she only cares about looks and in most episodes there is drama about boys or her secret almost getting revealed

2suite life on deck-this show isnt to terrible but london is all about herself zach is only about getting girls cody makes it seem like anyone who has any brains is a knowit all...i like this show though

these are quick examples but what mainly hits a nerve is this new show thaat is coming up.....fish hooks. it is not really disney to me. it reminds me of cartoon networks dumb show chum chum and fanboy (is that correct) it is a nonsense comedy that is more than fictisous but plain dumb

i know i am probably overreacting but if you if you think about it what of the classics do the still honor. Blam just makes fun of classics and the only symbol for mickey is the mouse head shape for a symbol and it isnt even whole

if you have ever heard "would walt be happy" i am sorry to say i dont think he would be with disney channel

sorry it is so long and that i ranted but i needed to say it

YAY Disney Channel Rant thread! :woohoo:
In all seriousness, though... I rarely watch Disney Channel anymore. The shows are now all idiotic. I occasionally watch Phineas and Ferb and Wizards of Waverly Place, but that's pretty much it.
I miss the series based off of movies: The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, and Aladdin, just to name a few.
I miss Kim Possible and Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens and stuff like that.. the shows that were actually GOOD.
Thank goodness I have Disney movies on DVD.

I seriously hate Disney Channel nowadays. The only thing on there that I like is Phineas and Ferb.

The characters are no longer relatable. How am I supposed to connect to a secret pop star? Yeah, I have secrets. Everyone does. But not like that. And there is also the fact that the character acts like a huge spoiled brat. I wouldn't mind that fact if the other characters treated her like a spoiled brat but nope. She isn't. And everything always goes her way in the end. Why not have a few episodes where she doesn't get what she wants? A great example would have been the episode where she's up for a movie role and Oliver is up for a gig for his band. It should have been that he got the gig and she didn't get the role.

I'm going to stop now because I have a much longer rant about this on my Tumblr.

At the very least Disney could give me Recess on DVD. I freaking love that show.

my favorite show on disney is sonny with a chance and that is just because of the romance between sonny and chad other shows have lost my interest i really wish they had the old old classics

I agree with you. While I do enjoy watching Disney Channel because the shows are interesting, just not relatable. I love Phineas and Ferb, but is that show relatable, no. My two little brothers (yes, I have two younger bros in RL) build crazy machines and rockets to the moon? No. But I still love the show, it's adorable. I only watch Hannah Montana because I find all the drama interesting. Although it's just so unrelatable now. Miley and Lily hate their new room that's a kids room, so they redecorate it, but oh wait, Miley's brother's smell is going to ruin it for them, so they move out into the barn and have a totally amazing bedroom. Yeah. Right.. they get exactly what they wanted, and even better. My two favorite shows on Disney Channel are Sonny With a Chance and JONAS L.A. I enjoy Sonny because, she's living her dream, where she doesn't have an outragious secret, a dream that because she worked hard for it, is coming true. She wasn't just handed it because she wanted to be a comedian (or singer in Miley's case) she worked for it. And Demi Lovato is my favorite Disney Channel actress. JONAS LA because, well, I love the Jonas Brothers. But, no their show isn't relatable but it kind of gives you a feel of life in Hollywood. And it's interesting. Sorry for such the long post/rant.

no problem this is what i mean and who has see that new promo for the upcoming show fish hooks it is terrible and to me not disney

it is animated and looks terrible i can only find one and it is bad quality on youtube look it up if interested

Fanboy & Chum Chum is a Nickelodeon show... Actually, i'm quite excited for Fishhooks. It's being produced by Maxwell Atoms (who made Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) and C.H. Greenblatt (who made Chowder) and the animation is done by the team who made the animation for Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends. I liked all three of those shows, so there's a chance i'll like this. I think the main problem is it should really be on Disney XD, not Disney Channel. It seems more of a show that boys would like, and Disney XD was made specifically as a boys channel. It makes no sense to put it on the channel that caters more to girls.

I looked up fish hooks on Google, and at first I thought it looked stupid... but once I say Kyle Massey, Chelsea Staub, and Sabrina Bryan were going to be the main character voices, I got a little more excited. I like them! But I think the concept it pretty dumb...

I just googled it an I must say I think it looks idiodic. Considiering how well DC has done portraying teen life with HUMANS.. [/sarcasm]

I just think it looks stupid. I'll probably never watch it.

I completely agree with everything you guys have said on here. I never watch it anymore for almost all the shows are badly acted, not funny, the characters aren't likeable, or theyre just not interesting. Most of the sitcoms have overused plotlines that make them not interesting. I will occaisionally watch Wizards or Sonny because those shows are funny at times but not often. Disney Channel was better when it was That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuiare, Even Stevens, Recess, etc.

About 6 months ago they actually showed several classic movies in a weekend, but that's it.

It seems like we only are shown the films that eventually led to this channel when they've already shown the movies that tend to kill off the series they were based on.

You even got a hint of the change in DC show format in the Lizzie McGuire movie. Many girls could relate to her on the show, just another girl trying to do what's right, but who could honestly say they've gotten to sing onstage with a famous Italian pop duo while they just happen to be on a school trip abroad?

I won't watch it either, I just like the people who will be their voices :D

That was the movie though, they had to do something big and exciting and unrelatable for the movie, so I think that's a little different. Other than that, ITA

I think this all started with HSM. They had a big hit on their hands, and they wanted to try and duplicate it. The kids on the shows now-a-days are pretty much spoiled brats who get their own way (at least, with HM, SLoZC, SLOD, and WoWP) If you think about it, do Zack and Cody get in serious trouble for the pranks that they pull? Are there serious consequences for Alex when she uses a spell for her own good? Not really (serious, in more than grounded). Everything seems to end up good in the end.

And on HM, Jackson's really the only relatable character. Though Miley's two best friends and her boyfriend knows the "secret" Jackson's girlfriend can't know because Miley thinks that she can't be trusted? That's self-centered spoilishness right there. And they move to a ranch just because Miley misses her horse? Then, just because Miley doesn't like her new room, she gets an awesome room in the stables? Why not just redecorate the room in the house? Also, Its obvious favoritism (Remember the episode when Hannah got to meet the Queen, and that took more priority over Jackson's volleyball game?) I believe that Jackson has every right to be jealous, yet all the episodes focus on Miley's way. This season so far has been the worst, in my opinion. It clearly focuses on Miley's self-centered-ness and how she is so special to get whatever she wants.

I totally agree with everything you said Disneychannel is not "disney" at all. It reminds me more of like CBS or NBC with all those dumb sitcoms but for teens/preteens. They need more Disney stuff. The only show I like on disneychannel is phineas and ferb. But they need to think again if they think fish hooks is going to be popular! That show belongs on cartoon network or nickalodeon with all the other dumb cartoons!
