So we'll be going to the parks in February and I want to DisneyBound at least one day. I know DH would roll his eyes at the idea. Does anyone have ideas for subtle DisneyBounding guy outfits? I may even secretly dress him has a character, ha! ;) He's an average dad so some of these hipster ideas I come across aren't exactly doable. Kind of like all the ideas for ladies that include high-heels. No thanks!

A visual guide of folks DisneyBounding in case anyone is unsure of what it is:

Red tee shirt and khaki's could be Gaston. Or all shades of brown could be the Beast. Blue for Eeyore. Red and Black for Mickey.

Assuming you're all going to dress as the same "Family" (Ie all fab 5, all from one movie, all pooh, etc) just make him the most subtle and I'd guess people will guess who he is based on the rest of you!

Those are good ideas. I like that the rest of the family could follow a theme so it would be easier to identify him. And Smee is a pretty easy one compared to the others I've seen! I don't know that he'd wear colored pants so I could use jeans for Smee and get away with it ;)

We are headed down in a few weeks and I think my DH is more excited about DisneyBounding than I am! That being said, I think it helps that we talked about it in terms of a "couple" endeavor (and at least 1 day where our family of 5 will DB together and another day where just he and our son will) and I think he liked that it was something we could do together. But he also loves Halloween and any other excuse to get into a character so I realize we are dealing with 2 totally different types of men. Maybe it would help to look in his closet and find something that he might where anyway so that he's participating but doean't feel over the top? Or if there is a particular style of clothing he likes you could maybe try to work it in - my DH longs for the days when men wore suits and hats everyday so we're using that to do Lady and the Tramp and he's doing this kind of Sinatra take on it. What I love about DB is that it gives you an opportunity to let our favorite characters inspire you but you can put whatever spin on it you want; Hippie Mickey, Preppy Cheshire Cat or whatever else you can come up with. I definitely wouldn't be in to it if it had to be a literal representation of the character. Have you googled some images other people have posted? Maybe that would assuage his trepidation and/or give you some ideas??

Disregard my last 2 suggestions.:P I think I missed that last bit of you're post about already looking at stuff and the hipster mess not being his bag.

That sounds fabulous! You have to post photos when you get back! I finally did breech the subject with him last night and he didn't cringe like I thought it would! But, he also doesn't want to be over the top. So far I'm thinking of us all doing it one day. At first I was going to be Snow White but for the family idea I'm thinking Ariel (me), Prince Eric (DH), Flounder (DD2, and ???? (DD4). It's the last one I'm stuck on bc DD4 I'm sure will want to be girly. But, sticking her as Ariel seems odd. It's a work in progress. I will still be Snow White on one day and Daisy on another. My normal park attire consists of jeans or capris and a tshirt so it should be interesting. We're going in early February though so cardigans should be easy to pull off :)

Sounds cute! So far we're doing the emotions from Inside Out as a family - it helps that those are also our Halloween costumes this year so we figured we'd use them again. Then my DH and I are doing Lady and Tramp and Ariel and Eric (that's a great one for a guy that doesn't want to go all out bc you can achieve the look with completely normal clothes) and he and our 6 yo DS are doing Luke and Han (respectively). We may get the kids in on one of the days we're doing a couple thing or we may just not worry about it. We have a 9 yo DD and everthing is this huge event with her so I'm not sure its worth trying to deal with. :furious: When I mentioned adding the kids to my 9 yo DD she liked the idea of doing it if she could be Sebastian (I guess she just likes the character or the color red...she's at the point where she's "too cool" for princesses and for the most part stays away from anything overtly girly. Its a constant frustration bc I'm all ruffles and bows and have no idea what to do with a DD that isn'to_O) Maybe you could do a really girly Sebastian?? There would probably be a lot of frilly solid red things around Christmas that you could use for it. Or maybe just one of those fancy fish you see during the "Under the Sea" scenes?? That wouldn't be a specific character but it would work with the feel of the other characters.

Already anti-princess at 9? Wow, we need to soak it up! DD4 likes Elsa but could care less about the other ones. She'll half way watch the little mermaid. A girly Sebastian is a cute idea! We could get a red outfit and maybe some sort of crab necklace? Hmm...I'll have to keep an eye out. Thanks for the tips!!

No prob!

DD(9) started getting out of the Princesses in the last couple of years. She's really smart and really into sports so I think on some level she's like insulted by the princesses?? She does like Merida. We have pretty strong Scottish heritage and I think that is part of why she's into it but also bc she's all horse-riding and bow-shooting and all that. She loves to read so she will kind of tolerate Belle too. Its been frustrating and kinda disheartening bc I wasn't really ready to be done with all that stuff. But our youngest DD just turned 2 and is just now getting into to the Princesses so maybe this one will stick with it longer.:flower1:
