Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

Does anyone know if you can pick up your YES tickets at your resort? We fly in lateish the night before our scheduled class which begins at 7:45 the next morning and i am concerned I will have time to pick up the tickets at the park, or that the ticket window will not yet be open that early in the morning?

We picked ours up at DTD, right outside DisneyQuest, at around 8pm in October. It eased my mind to have them the night before our MK early extra magic hour. Good luck!

Do these tickets expire? If we purchase an 8 day and only use 7, could we use the 8th day next year?
No, the tickets are dated for 7 days before your arrival date to 7 days after your departure date.

We decided at the last min to go this year and purchased our YES tickets at the end of May for June 20th.

You were very lucky then. Our class was in early August, and was filled in March when some friends wanted to join us. As more and more people learn about this program, classes will fill very quickly. Most classes only serve 15 kids.

Can I ask, what is the minimum number of kids for the class to run? I signed up my younger child for the Ocean Discoveries class which I would think would fill up. I signed up my older child for the Marine Careers class. Wondering if that is a popular class or not as I couldn't find much info on that particular class.

If they do cancel the class when do they let you know?

Thanks.

I believe I was told 10 was minimum. I don't know when they let you know, but I would assume at least several days before the class. I have read here that if they cancel the class, they try to get you in another one, and even if you aren't interested in what they have, you still get to use your discount tickets.

Hi everyone!

I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip for next July, so I thought I'd check in here so I can keep a close eye on YES program releases for then.

My children took the Ocean Discoveries class in July of 2010, and we all had a great time. This time around, they have their eyes on either the photography class or the animation class, so I'm hoping that one of those will coincide with my travel dates.

:)

Can you take one of the classes if you don't purchase the YES park tickets? I thought I remembered reading if you had APs you could pay around $26 to attend a class, but I wasn't sure if this was an option if you have purchased tickets as part of your resort package.

Do you have to buy the tickets for your whole family when you sign up for the class? Or can you sign your child(ren) up for a class and then decide later to purchase the YES park tickets?

Okay, I'm answering my own questions with the response I received from Disney just in case anyone else was wondering the same thing.

You can no longer take one of the classes without purchasing the ticket package. And you must purchase the tickets when you register.

I was also told that Summer dates will be released by the end of Februay just like many posters here have stated.

Okay, now that I've been looking around the website and reading all the details I don't see anywhere that it says the tickets are non-refundable. :confused3

It's probably included in the confirmation you receive when you purchase the tickets, but I swear it used to be posted all over the website so that you knew the tickets were non-refundable before you even attempted to register for a class.

Can someone clear something up for me. We are going next summer. So, we are basically in a holding pattern for when the dates are going to be until YES summer schedule is posted. I was told a while back that would be Feb. Recently, I read that registration opens in Feb, but the schedule is listed late Dec./early Jan. Is that true? If it is, I can go ahead and book the vacation home and airline tickets before Feb. Anyone know anything about anything here.

Also, how strict are YES's age requirements? If ds is a few weeks from being the age to take the class he wants, as opposed to the want he has to take, would we be able to squeak into that class? Thanks for the help.

I haven't seen anything that indicates that registration will be open before February, as it has in the past. Disney tends to wait until the current inidividual enrollment classes are almost over before they start the next time period. I'm not letting that stop me from booking a vacation home though. I just ask what the policy is on changing dates. As far as airline tickets, I would think that Feb. is plenty early to book. We are taking Amtrak and will book once we know when our class will be.

I think they are more strict with kids being too young for a class than they are with them being too old. That's because there may be experiments or activities that are tailored to older kids. I would email and ask about the class you are interested in.

I know registration wont be open until Feb. However, will they be announcing dates before Feb? Thanks for the help.

It seems like last year, the dates were released AND registration opened at the same time, but maybe I am remembering wrong. There were summer dates listed for a short time, and some people here are planning around those dates. I don't trust that they won't change though.

These were the 2011 dates. It might help to see how many there were.

PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE 2011 DATES. I don't want anyone to get too excited;)

Thank you for posting! Any chance that anyone has the September and October 2011 dates? I know they won't be the same as 2012 but it might give me a clue as to what dates MIGHT appear on the list.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting this! I was trying to find this years dates so we can plan in 2012. We have a 30% off pin that we have to book with by Jan 19th for June and we always go after we get the teacher workdays past us since one of us is a public teacher and hopefully this year coming up has some dates like this so we can gamble and book! We really enjoyed the YES program this year and hope to do it again in 2012. Thanks again because this really helps for planning!

You're welcome! There tends to be several dates every week with several classes offered each of those dates. I am going ahead with my house rental; just making sure I can move my registration if needed.

We'll go ahead with our reservation after the New Years announcement tomorrow night just in case it could possibly be better than our 30% off. The only thing I may wait on besides the summer YES schedule is airfare out of Charlotte. Its pretty low now but may gamble and wait to see if US Airways drops a little further. Its a great feeling to be back in the planning mode!!

I have read many of these posts but I have a question that I have not seen addressed. Do you need to be staying onsite to participate in a YES class? We are heading to Orlando for a convention on July 25, staying offsite for the convention before moving onsite from July 30 - August 10. Could I register my kids for a class going on during the time we are staying offsite so that I can take the kids while my husband attends convention activities?

No, it is not a package, so you don't have to stay onsite. We weren't onsite in 2010 or 2011.

Yeah! Great to hear!

So should I list our arrival date as the day we arrive in Orlando or the day we check into a Disney hotel? Or does it really matter? We were thinking of the premium tickets and I would like to have tickets available to use during the dates we are offsite for the convention - maybe to take the kids to a water park which my husband does not enjoy.
