Just wondering if this could be done when u check in so u don't have to carry tickets and a room key. The less im able to lose the better! lol

The YES tickets are a tyvek (sp?) or like material like the annual pass. They can not be added to the KTTW card. They do work for fastpass.

Tracey,

I’m going back to the question/comment about not being in a park on Oct 11 except for the Chemistry class. I don’t know why this has been on my mind so much, but I have several comments/suggestions for you...as I see it you have 2 options for you and DS, the two of you either enter a park that day or the two of you do not enter any park at all that day. This is based on you saying that you might just burn the rest of the day since you really weren’t planning to be in a park on the 11th.

1. Everyone in your party would have the same tickets (5 day, I think?). DH +2kids enter Epcot for the EC class. You and DS could enter Epcot at RD and do non-thriller stuff until the class is over and then everyone leave together. Or, how about you and DS go to MK? You could park at EP or MK and whichever group could monorail over to where the car is parked when time to leave. You know the deal if you don’t have hoppers.

2. Did you know that you can buy different length tickets for members of your party when you register for the YES class? So if you and DS did not want to enter any park at all that day, you could buy 2 tickets for 4 days and 3 tickets for 5 days. A) DH could drive the class participants to Epcot while you and DS have a morning at the hotel. Or B) There is a drop-off lane at each park and you could drop-off the class participants at Epcot and then do whatever (you would not have to pay parking if you only do drop-off and then leave the WDW property). Or C) Everyone ride and park at Epcot and then you and DS could go on a monorail & resort tour, maybe pack a picnic, ride ferries and water launches. I think you said the budget was tight; otherwise I would second the recommendation to do a character breakfast with DS.

Ok, I’m done. Of course all of this may be moot if you do the homeschool days on the 10th! Sorry to be obsessing about this, I just couldn’t get it out of my head until I wrote it down.:goodvibes

Thanks so much for taking the time to type up those suggestions! :flower3:

I am having a very difficult time making a decision. We are on such a tight schedule and budget for this trip that I am going crazy. I just pray we are not too exhausted from the drive down to enjoy ourselves at the parks and then hopefully we are not too exhausted from the parks to enjoy the cruise with my in-laws and then not too exhausted to drive home!
It's funny how we were planning just to hang around the rental pool home with my in-laws and swim and go to the beach one day and go visit family one day before the cruise(which we booked in the cheapest rooms possible as soon as the dates were released and by putting one kid in with the in-laws) and now we are squeezing in 3-4 parks days, visiting family and swimming with the manatees 2 hours away from the area and the cruise! I am thinking I am crazy
I guess since I know this is the last long vacation we will be taking for a few years I am trying to cram so much in.:rolleyes1
I had added the manatee swim as we got half price tickets the other month through half off orlando.com Then we decided to add the parks(if we could save up enough money) since we could afford a few days due to the YES program ticket cost plus my kids really want to do a program, it's right up their alley and also part of it may count toward my older ds's schooling. Plus I know there is no way we could drive all the way down there and not do the parks...my youngest ds would be devastated as he talks constantly about going to see Mickey and hug him and the house we are staying in is the same one we stayed in last time so he knows we're close by!
I'm thinking I'm gonna take a wait and see approach and keep my fingers crossed that the 10th(or 12th or 13th) will be released for us. I just hope I am not making the wrong decision :sad2: Of course I may change my mind as I may get nervous about not being able to get into anything through YES for our time frame!
Sorry for being so long winded!:scared1:

How do u do fastpass with them? Can they go in the machine?

My niece's class was removed from the website, so I called this week to see what was going on ..... it's full so it will definitely happen! I really wanted to go with her, but her mom/my SIL was kind of interested, too. As it turns out, neither of us get to go....my mom (niece's Nana) trumped us all and said she was going. She and my niece love to do educational places together, so it will be a neat thing for them to get to do this!

Their class is the American Story class on June 22 for the younger set (8-11 maybe?). Any other Dis'ers in that one?

Just show up with both parents-in my opinion-that's what I would do.

We're in that class too! It will be me, my dd8, and my nephew 6. We will see you there!

Thank you! I'm guessing we will just be adventurous that day and pray they let both parents go! :) It'd be nice to hear from others that have gone through this experience too!

See ya there!! :thumbsup2

You could also add the park hopper(through YES) to just the two who are going to the class. Then you could all go to another park.

I e-mailed about Nov open dates to Ashley.... I will post when I get her e-mail....Hoping she says they are considering adding Nov dates..

///fingers crossed

Were there YES dates this past February? I have friends going in Feb 2012 and would love some "historical data".

okay I am confused, everyone keeps saying they can not get there tickets mailed to them, I just ordered mine 4/15 for June and paid 10.00 to have my tickets shipped to me, I called on Monday 4/18 and confirmed my order and they said i should have my tickets in 2 to 3 weeks

We ordered ours on last weekend, and I was not given the choice to have them mailed. :confused3 I just have a JPG document that I am to print out and exchange at Will Call. This is for June 15. I wanted the choice to have them mailed though. But now its all good. But that is interesting indeed :goodvibes

It may go by the date of the class. Since your class is during the originally released dates(summer), maybe that is an option. Our class is in August and ours were mailed, but we registered in early March.

Yes, there were dates in February this year. I know they had some the first and second week, but I'm not sure exactly how far into February they went.

I do not know about the Visa question.

The YES tickets are completly seperate from hotel and dining programs. You can only buy the park tickets through the YES office. If there is a room only discount during your stay, you would also be eligible for it. A free dining discount during your stay is possible to use, but would take some very specific planning to make it work. And in most cases a room discount is a better deal.

I billed my YES tickets to my Disney Visa, and no...it was not 0%financing eligible

We did a class in January in California. Although we were repeatedly told ahead of time that only one parent would be able to attend with our son, when we showed up for the class they had no problem with both parents coming along - even encouraged it. I think it may depend on who is leading the class and how big the class is. If both parents want to attend, I would definitely give it a try.

For Individual Enrollment they were during first 2 - 2 1/2 weeks of month; I don't recall that there were any dates that came after Feb.20 which was week when President's Day holiday fell and that is consistent with information YES office has stated about not scheduling these classes during high travel periods.

:)

We are going to be in that class as well! My little sister (10), cousin (10), and sister's friend (11) will be attending the class as well as myself (24) and am VERY excited about it! I'm happy to hear that it will take place as I think I am more excited about the class than the kids are! :)

I was also getting a little nervous that they had changed the class to June 20. I was back on the YES program website today and a lot of the classes they are having while we are going to be down there have changed dates. We won't be in FL until June 20 so I was starting to worry that they would make us change classes.

THANKS FOR BEING SO SPECIFIC!! That helps with the dates they are planning!

:thumbsup2 There is now a Disney's Ocean Discoveries on the 24th of August for those who missed out on the other one and Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves 8-11 age group is still showing as open (22nd August) really hoping this will fill up so our 10 year old gets to do a class as well.:goodvibes
