I see most of the classes are for 8 and up. Are you still able to buy tickets for kids under 8? And what will you do with the under 8's during the class?

You sure can, but they will not be able to attend (nor 'tag along') the class. You'll want to make alternate arrangements for the youngsters. They could wait with another adult in your party OR don't forget about the kids clubs :)

I am trying to book a trip through this program but there are limited classes.
My daughter will begin the first grade this year. Do you guys think that we could still sign up for for a class that is for 2nd grade through 9th? Thanks.

Only if you're going to be misleading about her grade level. If you say she's in first grade, she won't be able to take the class, but if you say she's in second grade, she won't be questioned if she looks like a second grader.

The Y.E.S. Programs are accredited by different agencies, and in order to keep those accredations, certain standards have to be held to, including ages for the programs.

I would call and ask directly. There was an earlier post where a child who was a little older or younger than the age listed was allowed in a class. That poster said they were told that the grades are used as guidelines, not set in stone.

Would love to know what dates will be open in Jan. 2011.

We are going in January 2011 as well and would love to take advantage of this opportunity.

We are going somewhere in the Jan 7 to 17 time frame! I am hoping we can find a class too for my kindergartner! FUN!

Wonder when they will anounce open enrollment for January??? How far in advance does it come out? Anyone know?? And where can we get a list of the prices for the tickets?

Thanks for any advice!! Leigh

I am also waiting for the announcement for January. I had read that last year they announced January's dates in September, so hopefully we will hear something soon.

I don't know if there is a list of all the prices, but I have read that the premium tickets (park hopper, water parks & more) range from $174 for 5 days to about $200 for 10 days. My understanding is that if you want more days than they list on the website, you just note that in your comments section when you purchase the tickets.

This is correct. My 7 day hoppers in January of last year were around $184 each I think.

What are the chances that they will have open enrollment in March? This seems like a wonderful opportunity for my daughter.

Just back from our trip. Youngest (10) and I attended the Wild By Nature program at AK on Tuesday and had a great time. She is very interested in animal behavior so this was the perfect class for her. It started out a little awkwardly as the other 10 members of the class didn't join us until 9:15 (began at 8:30)----she had the "teacher"'s undivided attention for the first 45 minutes! We did both walking trails, the safari and ended at Tough to be a Bug.

If there are Open Enrollment classes during our planned trip next August, we will definitely sign up again.

we'll be there during Christmas break. Do you think they'll have classes then?

Probably not open enrollment. Christmas is the busiest time of the year, and open enrollment is typically offered during slower times.

well that stinks!

To give you a bit of info as to why; the Y.E.S. Programs have a lot of content that requires walking, talking, attractions, large empty spaces in the parks, ect. These just don't work as well when the parks are crowded. Can you imagine trying to hear your facilitator talk to you when you're surrounded by 60,000 people at the Magic Kingdom? It would be a little crazy!

Went to Ocean Discoveries yesterday. Don't think any Disers were in our separated group. We had 8 children, their parents and some observer from Disney. Good, basic class for the younger kids, glad I didn't bring my Highschooler, but DS11 and DS9 enjoyed it.

The person who checks you in told the observer this class check in went smoothly as usually he waits an hour for late arrivals usually. He also told him this will be great for him to oberve so he can "upsell it". I told him you shouldn't have to upsell it, it is such a great program. Looks like it will be around for awhile.
