We are planning a vacation to WDW 2/15-2/19 and are trying to get a group together to do a Disney YES program. Right now we are looking at the
-Disney's World of Physics:Energy and Waves 9am or 11:30 am program in MK for ages 8-18. We have 6 kids in our group (ages 8,10,12,13,13 & 16) and need a few more in order to be able to qualify for the program. If any one is interested please let me know.

hi! We are going Feb. 6 - 13 and have 2 kids who want to do this, 14 & 17. Too bad we will miss each other by a few days! Where did you see the schedule for for Feb? I've only seen it thru Dec. Good luck!!

There isn't a schedule for the open programs for 2011 yet. I was looking to schedule my own group but am a few kids shy of the minimum number required.

How many kids can be in a group? I am thinking of going in Feb and have 4 kids ages 9, 16, 17& 17.

I haven't pulled up this particular program. But what about 7 year olds? We'll be there starting the 16th.

The age group starts at 3rd grade/8.

I know the groups need a minimum of 10 kids but, I have no idea about the maximum number.

We are flexible on the exact program but, thought this one would be fun because it requires going on Big Thunder Mountain & some of our kids other favorite rides. (and it included all our age ranges)

Hi all! I just emailed a Disney rep from the individual enrollment website and asked when, and if, they will open up enrollment for Feb. 2011. I'll let you know what they say soon as I get a response.

We will be there Feb. 11-19, and DS (14) would *love* something like that World of Physics class. We would totally be ready to sign up as soon as it's available, if I can manage to sort out my confusion.

From what I understand, you can't be on a package or have dining?? We're on a free dining plan package now, and I have no idea how this would all work together... I'm trying to write it all out, figure out if it would still be a good deal for us, and the math is making my head hurt, lol. He would love to do this -- I showed him the description for the class and he is psyched about it, but if it would mean losing money because of the free dining and the ginormous hassle of having to cancel our package and rebook under room-only I'm not sure it would be worth it.

How has everyone else handled all this with reservations they already hold?

You used to be able to convert your room tickets to non-expiry versions (for a fee based on the number of days). I would give them a call & see if this is still an option. You would then wind up with an extra ticket that you could use for another trip.

Hi everyone,

no response from Disney yet re: Feb. enrollment...I'll give them a few more days as it was Labor Day weekend. Will keep you posted!

I am planning a trip in early Feb and would love to get in on this. If there is no open enrollment, is there a place to look to hook up with another group? I only have 3 kids (would have had more if I'd known I'd need them for this) and we're all nerds!

Finally rec'd a reply from Heidi at Disney about open enrollment:

Hi Margita,

We do not yet have any dates released for Individual Enrollment programs for 2011 however I will add you to my list and send you the information when it becomes available.

Thanks!
Heidi

We did World of Physics: Energy & Waves on Aug 23; it goes to Stitch's Great Escape, Mickey's Philharmagic & some backstage/behind scenes at Haunted Mansion (and riding Haunted Mansion too)

I think Properties of Motion is program that goes to Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear.

:)

Here are the descriptions for both programs:

Properties in Motion:
While experiencing select Magic Kingdom® Park attractions, students come face to face with science at work in an exploration of the forces that keep roller coasters and Audio-Animatronics in motion. Students discover the role of physics in generating thrills and chills as they examine speed, velocity, acceleration, centripetal force, hydraulics and pneumatics at the most magical place on earth!

Note: The Space Mountain® learning experience is not available on mornings with Magic Kingdom® Park Extra Magic Hours.

Energy & Waves:

The world is a mysterious and fascinating place, full of energy that is continually changing form and moving from place to place. At select Magic Kingdom® Park attractions, students investigate light and sound waves, two forms of energy that are so ubiquitous we often take them for granted. Special hands-on examinations bring this program to life with a unique Disney touch. Students discover that understanding the science of light and sound leads to acoustical and optical applications that improve the way we live, work and even entertain ourselves.
