Has anyone done the Family Dinner which is from the Art of Disney? The pattern looks adorable. Was wondering whether there were any 1/2 stitches? I know there are 1/2 stitches in Cinderella's Castle- and I hate 1/2 stitches!!!

Hope to hear from people!
Louise

There are a *ton* of half stitches in the Family Dinner. That's how the curtains are done. Oh, and unlike the other pieces, there are no blank spots in the entire piece. All the white areas (like the tablecloth) are white stitches. When I looked at the pattern I just about cried, but it turned out to be okay. I don't know which one was harder, Family Dinner or the Self-Portrait (it was the first one I tackled and I wasn't used to the shading and having to change threads every 2 stitches.)

Hi Hopemax,

Sorry but I meant 1/4 stitches instead of 1/2 stitches. I can never get the needle in the aida cloth properly. I actually do not mind 1/2 stitches. Did you mean 1/4 stitches, too? If you did not, are there 1/4 stitches?

How long did it take you to do? Did you go insane? Was the final picture worth it? Would you do it again?

Thanks, Louise

Is Family Dinner the one based on a Norman Rockwell painting? A big dinner table with lots of different characters around it? If so, that's the one I'm dying to get my hands on, but Disney merchandising told me it's not available.

Any idea where I could get it?

Thanks!

Pat

323 days and counting . . . again

Yup, that's the one. I am disappointed to hear that it is unavailable. Anyone out there know where we could pick one up? Anyone seen it at the Art of Disney at Downtown Disney?

Thanks,
Louise

I got it about a year ago at Character Connections.....The Disney discount store that sells park stuff. I got it for 19.00 and had it in the closet for the longest. Then grandma came to visit from CA and found it. She is currently doing it for me know....she says "she needed something to do". Thank goodness for grandmas....
I will keep my eyes open. We are going to Disney for the day tommorrow and I will look. I haven't seen it in a long time and since it was at the discount store, it could very well be cancelled.

If the Family Dinner is unavailable would anyone be interested in sending the pattern to me?

Update on Family Dinner

Just phoned Art of Disney and the pattern has been discontinued. Therefore I am assuming that it would be "legal" to share the pattern.- Does anyone have a pattern to share? Would pay for shipping.

Louise

Louise-Montreal,
Doesn't help much right now, but as soon as Grandma finishes it I would be happy to send it to you. She is currently about 1/2 way finished. She is in CA and we are in FL. I will keep an eye on this post to see if anyone has it sooner? If not I will let you know when finished.
Sorry I cant be of greater help,
Mowsearz

Thanks, Mowsearz!!

Do not rush Grandma. I have a whole pile of projects to keep me busy and am in no rush at all.

When ever you can send it, will be greatly appreciated by me.

Thanks, again,
Louise

If this one is being discontinued, does that mean that there will be new patterns soon??????? I want to do one each with all of the Disney castles..... I would also love to do the Disney Wonder with Tink flying above...

Oooh, the Disney Wonder! I was just telling dh the other night (while I was working on Cinderella Castle) that I would *love* to do one of the Wonder!! :)

I WAS AT DISNEY THE WEEKEND OF DEC. 21 AT DOWNTOWN DISNEY--ART OF DISNEY & THEY HAD THE FAMILY DINNER THEN, SEVERAL KITS. DON'T KNOW ABOUT NOW BUT IF YOU GO TO STONEY CREEK WEBSITE, IT SEEMS THEY ARE STILL AVAILABLE, BUT CAN'T ORDER FROM THERE ON-LINE. DON'T KNOW IF THIS INFO WILL HELP!! MY DAUGHTER & I HAVE STARTED THE CASTLE, IT'S BEAUTIFUL BUT DON'T KNOW WHEN WE WILL EVER FINISH. I PUT IT DOWN SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING ON IT SINCE!

I just purchased the Castle kit on E-bay. I also saw the Family Dinner and Self Portrait.

I talked to Stoney Creek and Disney, at this point no one knows if there is going to be anything to replace the current kit.

No one knows exactly who to contact at Disney who is buying these items.

I would really LOVE to find any of these patterns. I tried bidding on the castle one with Tinkerbell on Ebay, but was out bid. I'm sorry, but I just don't have $50 to spend on a pattern. If anyone would be willing to make copies of this or any other Disney pattern I would be willing to pay for the copies and shipping.

Anyone willing to help me out? I'm trying to get a head start on Christmas this year.

TIA

Lola

I was in Downtown Disney last night--went to Art of Disney--no family dinner but had 8 castle kits. Don't know if this helps anybody.

Is there anywhere else to buy Disney x-stitch patterns? This thread just inspired me to do a couple of nice ones for my family room.

Thanks.

Lisa

It may be too late now, but Friday Jan 24th, I was at the Character Premiere/Character Warehouse shops at Belz outlet mall and they had a few of the Family Dinner kits for half-price. Perhaps someone who lives down there could see if they had any left. I know that if you buy stuff there they will ship it to your home, but I don't know if you can make a phone order.
