ok, this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine which just got worse!!! I have been to Disney twice since May, and both times the 20 somethings I was with and all the ones or most of them I have seen in the park, all they are doing is texting, talking on the phone...stopping in the middle of the walk way and making me bump into them because they were texting!!!

STOP already!!! enough is enough....it is just rude and irritating!!! you all need to plug back into life!!! This is a huge issue and it scares me into what our kids will be like later in life...and it is very scary!!!

The texters look like zombies walking around bumping into things. It is ridiculous.

this is what I mean! on the monorails, the buses...walking in the parks. They are completely tuned out!!! They are on vacation ..to do someone other then play with their cell phones and computers!
I never noticed it this bad till these last two trips. Including the people I was with.

:lmao:

The ONLY way I can go to WDW is having to drag Mr Moneybags (my DH;) ) along.

He has to be in contact with his customers-who are all in the midst of ongoing projects (some are million dollar projects).

He then tells his customers to contact "Joe" for this...or "Steve" for that..etc

I'm sorry his using his cell phone upsets you so much.;)

Our family has our own rules for the kids as far as cell phone use. It doesn't bother me what others do with their time.
As far as my own use - yeah, I have one with me on vacation. Clients have to have a way to get a hold of me, so I'll answer e-mails, texts, and calls while in the parks.

Unless you followed them 24/7 you have no idea whether they did anything else. I found that my computer and my phone were extremely useful when on vacation. Icould use my computer to research things, and of course keeping in touch with the other people who I was traveling with was important too. This year I actually wished I had a phone with internet ;)
I agree that sometimes there is just too much, however you really have no idea just how much time they spent on their phones, you saw them during a snipit if their entire vacation.

I am talking about the kids....they are NOT that important! I am sorry that you all cannot live without your stuff, I take a laptop with me and a cell, but I leave it in the room! or if I take it I do not answer it! I really do not want to hear your conversations at ALL!! and if you have to talk, go do it in a corner!! Instead of walking in front of me and stopping short because you need to text back! And if I hit you then you deal with it!!!

thats all! you cannot have it both ways!

humm, doe not take a rocket scientist to figure out that they have a cell phone addiction!! and if they have to take it to the parks..chances are they will have it at the resort or anywhere else!

Well, I can't imagine not having a cellphone at WDW. We're a big family, and we split up. The older kids can go off together. I keep in touch with my children via texting on a daily basis. I'm sure many were just keeping in touch with friends, but there might be some real reasons for the phone usage.

Sorry it bothers you, but we are a texting, Blackberry messaging, checking our Facebook/Twitter kind of Family. Vacation or not...we like to text and tweet!

When we travel with friends its useful to have cellphones as we like to split up and do our own thing.

I hate to have my cell phone with me because when I'm on vacation I like to be completely cut off from the world. That being said, I do take my cell into the parks with me, even if we're not with friends, in case there is an emergency involving my mom or dad.

It doesn't bother me to see people on cell phones at WDW as long as they're not using them on a ride or during a show. :)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I can't imagine spending a second caring what anyone else is doing at WDW. For every stop in the middle of the sidewalk to read a text person, there are a hundred more stop in the middle of the sidewalk to read a map or block the aisle of the restaurant with your giant stroller types, and they don't bother me either.

I just stop as soon as I see a block, and go around, or wait until they are moving again, or say "Excuse me, may I get by? Thank you!" if they are really slow.

And I am far more irritated by the "I am on vacation and it must be perfect for ME and ME ALONE so get out of my way!" types, to be perfectly honest.;)

My friends are there right now and I'm so happy they took the time to text pictures and updates to me. They had never before and I've been enjoying their vacation from afar.

Actually there are apps now which can approximate wait times for various rides and such throughout all of the parks.

Being able to know that another park may be less crowded by hopping on our iPhone helps us to decide if we want to Park hop.

Plus, there's nothing better than tweeting that we are in line for Splash Mountain, so all of our friends back home (and at work) can be jealous. :rotfl:

So when you spend an hour in a restaurant and witness people drinking wine, do you assume they are alcholics? Like I said unless you followed them 24 hours a day over the entire course of their vacation you really have no idea how much these 20 somethings (which aren't kids BTW) use their phones. I have my phone on me all the time everywhere I go too.

I cant wait for my next trip to WDW-now that I have an I Phone and the Facebook app:thumbsup2

I have lot's of Disney apps on my Iphone that came in very handy on my last trip!
I even posted to the Dis while waiting for my family to get off of rides I couldn't go on! (I was 5 months pregnant)
We were traveling with another family, and texting is sooooo much more convenient than calling, especially when you are busy running around doing other things, we could just text back when we had time. No need to set up times to meet or try to adjust our schedules. It made for a much more relaxing trip to be able to just text them "we just got off of Peter Pan and are heading to lunch, do you guys want to meet" and they could text back "we just had ice cream sandwiches from the bakery, can't even think about food right now, let's meet at the pool later, text us when you are leaving". No feeling obligated to stop what we were doing and meet at a prescheduled place and time.
Oh and while my husband was in a crazy long line at fantasmic I could just text him "that nice couple next to us came back with cotton candy for the kids, you don't have to wait in line".
I also didn't have to pay some absurd fee to have internet access at the resort.

I have to say that if you spend that much time stressing out over what someone else is doing on their vacation, then you aren't doing vacation the right way.

We used Boyfriends iPhone to watch the weather, lines, all sorts of things vacation related. He also has to be available to work at all times. When I was working, so did I. I have had more than one emergency call while in the parks. Even on vacation, my restaurant had to be run. So sorry my working bothers you that much.
