Hello all,

So..me and my family are planning our trip to Disney World during Thanksgiving. (Yeahhhh!!) We are trying to get some ideas on what to do for dinner Thanksgiving evening. We are open to any and all ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cassie:earsgirl:

Welcome to the DIS!

Thanksgiving Day will be VERY busy. If you want to eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal in a nice restaurant, you need to call 1-407-wdw-dine first thing in the morning.

You might have a difficult time obtaining the time and location of your choice, but you should be able to find something.

If you are willing to eat non-holiday food, or take your chances that a place like Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in MK will have a traditional Thanksgiving meal, head to your favorite park.

My family will be at WDW this Thanksgiving. Based on past experiences of eating an expensive but very nice Thanksgiving meal (Grand Floridian) and eating a traditional Thanksgiving meal at Starlight Ray's... we will be taking our chances at Starlight Ray's. If they don't a have a turkey meal, we'll cook a bird when we get back.

Gobble - gobble!

Yes, all the restaurants will be busy. But remember, even the food courts at the value and the moderate resorts will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner -- for a lot less than the sit down restaurants.

Welcome!!

We went Thanksgiving last year and had a PS for Concourse Steakhouse at the CR. We ended up cancelling b/c I just didn't want to put ou the $.

We ended up at Planet Hollywood at DTD. We had a $25 gift card and out meal for 5 was still $75.00 and NOT worth it!!

If I had to do it again, I would probably opt for something fun like Hoop de doo!! I say make a PS and go with your gut if you want to do something else.

Hi Shana1 and welcome!

A few years back, we ate at the Crystal Palace for Thanksgiving. It was really nice but very crowded. We had to wait well past our PS time, but I'm sure that's due to it being a holiday. This year we're going to eat outside of Disney. I'm not sure where yet, but I think we're gonna go to US for Thanksgiving Day. I would just ask about the prices for Thanksgiving Day meals when you call to make your PS. Have a great trip.

I am going for thanksgiving and have been trying to switch my ps and with no luck. i would make your ps now for what is available and keep calling back to switch if you r not totally satisfied. people have up to 48hr before to cancel keep in mind.

We are going to be there on Thanksgiving also, but we are not interested in trying to have a traditional meal (don't get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving, I just do not love a restaurant Thanksgiving meal, I'd rather have my grandmother's!! We'll have that on Sunday when we return)

Which park would you recommend for Thanksgiving Day. Will this day be more crowded because of locals, or Friday? (I know it will be crowded that week, but I'm talking more than the other days of the week, I just want to pick the best park for that day)

shana1, I just called a couple of days ago and was able to find dinner times at DTD and Boardwalk area restaurants. I think it will be difficult to get anything inside the parks, but many of the hotel and DTD restaurants will have thanksgiving menus, too.

Here's a link to some of the restaurant menus for turkey day:

Good luck!

We are eating at Hollywood & Vine for Thanksgiving. They have a Fantasmic dinner package that doesnt cost any more money like the other restaurants that have the package! We did Garden Grill 2 years ago with the last time slot seating to make sure we got there in time as we were flying in on thanksgiving. SInce it was a character meal, we still had a 90 minute wait, and we checked in ON TIME! They said that with a special holiday like that with characters, people tend to stay longer & hang out because the kids and the characters. So that was enough for me not to pick a character meal. Epcot didnt seem very crowded 2 years ago! We walked in at 5pm on thanksgiving, and walked right onto Spaceship Earth with NO wait!! I have a feeling MGM will be packed, but we are just trying something different. I knew to avoid MK like the plauge, and there isnt many places to eat at AK, we did Epcot last time, so that left MGM. If its crowded, we can just stroll thru the lights!

You will want to make a priority seating very soon. Thanksgiving day is very busy and books up very early.

I'm going to move this to our restaurants board for you.

We decided to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Prime Time Cafe, kind of like having dinner with the extended family!

Lori S. I had the same opinion last year when we went to WDW. We chose to eat at the Rose and Crown and had a great meal. The CM when I was making our reservation was a little baffled when I was happy about no Turkey in the WS. Actually, they did have a turkey special. We were advised to avoid MK on T-Day, which we did, so I can't tell you if it was crowded. One thing to note, they switched EMH Days for MK and Epcot (Wed. and Thurs) last year. Perhaps they were trying to even out the crowds.

I just made PS for Hollywood and Vine today, late afternoon and they still have some if anyone is interested the CM said. I also cancelled my Crystal Palace dinner ressie for Thanksgiving as it will be so crowded in the MK that day..We prefer a meal without Characters for Thanksgiving. Just letting folks know there are still some sit down meals available with PS if you want to call and get them .....:sunny:

Gulliver's Grill, over at the Swan/Dolphin, is hosting a traditional turkey day buffet.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, but they have our ressie for Thanksgiving afternoon.

The menu reportedly will include all the traditional faves ... turkey, all the trimmings, and a variety of (ahem) lo-cal deserts. ;)

There are NO CALORIES in Thanksgiving food or desserts and NO CALORIES at WDW, so you are good no matter how you look at it, sounds good...If I did not have my PS already I would go to Gullivers Grill as the food is very good....Enjoy!!!.....:sunny:
