Has anyone used them? If so, would you recommend them or board your pet elsewhere? :surfweb:

We either board our pets at our vet's office (they offer overnight boarding with special treatment) or find a friend to watch them for us while we are gone.

The kennels were nice when we used them years ago. They have been taken over by an outside provider now, so we have not used them since. I keep my pets at home where they are familiar and have a dog sitter come in and take care of the pets and the house several times a day.

I believe the kennels are now being managed by Best Friends Pet Resorts. I've never used them, but I did work for one (for a day) when I was in college. It wasn't a place I would ever want to send my pets. The outside reception area was very nice, but the actual kennel where the animals were kept was disgusting. I hire a neighborhood girl to come over and feed/excercise my three dogs when I'm away. It works out to be a lot less expensive, and I know they're being well cared for in a familiar environment.

Alternatives to the kennel club are staying at the wilderness camp ground with your pet(s) for an additional $3 per night charge. Or the evil alternative (Universal) Hard Rock Hotel is also "pet friendly" (lower floors) as well.

But you have to be staying in the pet loop in an RV to have your pet with you at Ft Wilderness.

We used the one at the MK ticketing center last year for two nights. It worked well for us. You had to go at least twice a day to visit your pet and walk them. We had no problem with the condition of the kennel.

As someone said, the kennels have been taken over by a kennel service now. They will actually feed them and walk them now I believe, and the cost is a little more than when we were there. You can visit their website (I'm sure it's linked somewhere on DIS Boards) and see what is offered and the prices. Outside of the one review above, seems like this has been discussed on DIS and there were at least a few positive remarks about the service. I can't imagine Disney tolerating poor conditions which would reflect back on Disney.

Not sure what we will do this year when we go. We could board him with our Vet at home, but being gone for 10 days may stress him out. He is okay when we leave him over a weekend (though very happy to see us when we resturn) but not sure how he would take being there that long without us visiting him. At least at Disney kennels we would see him often and ease his worries about being abandoned.
