Disney World in October?

So funny - I am worried Oct will still be too hot :rotfl: We are from northern New England and swimming in Feb at WDW while the life guards are in jackets and pants is the norm for us. I cannot even begin to imagine what the summer heat/humidity is like.

Ditto this!! I love going there in Oct, it's actually my favorite time to go since it's not so hot that you melt while walking around but warm enough for swimming.

We have done Oct many times for the F&W Festival. It is a great time of year. However.....book at your 11 month window. This is the first time we booked the 6 month mark and we have been on a WL for our home resort BWV or BCV since April, with no luck. BCV & BWV fill up FAST since it is walking distance to Epcot. Plan early!!!

We have gone in October many times and always enjoyed good weather. However, last year it was unbearably hot. The heat index reached 108!!!!! However, that did not stop me from booking again this year. Gotta love Food & Wine! Hope we will all have great weather.

We were there last October during a very cool. breezy spell. We stayed at VWL and the lifeguards were in pants and jackets. (We did not go swimming, we just walked by the pool.) I also wore layers to MNSSHP because it was so cool. On the positive side it was nice and sunny.

We have gone several times in October and have always been fortunate enough to have great weather. It is warm enough to swim and go to the water parks,...but not so hot that you feel like you are going to melt. I would warn you to bring some warm clothes just in case. A light jacket is a great idea! Have a fantastic time!

The weather is usually moderate in Oct., but the Food and Wine Festival make EPCOT more crowded than in the summer from my experience. The F & W is great though.:3dglasses

October is a fantastic time to go! Food and Wine Festival, MNSSHP, weather has been good for us all of the times we go. Once it was cool for several days, but also plenty of times with swimming weather. We are going in October this year, and August next year-but just because our 10th Anniversary is in August.

Epcot has the greatest chance of congestion, though not necessarily for rides. Many people are there for the festival. Bring a jacket for the evenings and a pair of jeans and you will be covered for all ends of the spectrum.

We love Disney as well in October.

We were at BCV last year 10/4-10/10, and it was "hot as hades". We enjoyed ourselves despite the heat, but we did parks in morning and evening, and enjoyed the pools in the afternoon. This year we arrive on 10/24 and may find cooler temperatures.

I can see you already have received many replies but I wanted to add my two cents. :rotfl:

I love going to WDW in October. I'm getting ready now for my annual trip there. I find the weather to be fine and I'm always at the pool during the daytime. Weather can vary from the mid 80's during the day to HOT. Last year it was HOT!!

I find the crowds a little lighter than the summer months but Epcot in the evenings can be very crowded due to the Food and Wine Festival. I tend to say out of Epcot on weekends also. Way too many people for me. :rotfl:

What ever month you choose, I'm sure your son will have a great time!!

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence! I feel a lot better about the decision to go in October. Well, I actually don't really have a choice, we just can't swing it for August so October it is. I just wanted to make sure we'd be able to swim and go to our favorite water park, Typhoon Lagoon. We didn't go last trip so we want to make sure we don't miss out next time around.

As for your advice about avoiding Epcot on weekends, I'll definitely keep that in mind.!:)

We usually go in October as we think it is the best time to go! We have also gone in June and September but we think the weather is best in October. It is warm enough to enjoy the pools and such but not to hot that you cant enjoy walking around the parks. Also, the lines are way shorter! In our opinion, October is great..you wont be dissapointed!

Make your reservation early if you go in October. Due to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, availability can become extremely limited.

We usually go for at least a week in Oct. 9 times out of 10 it is warm and the lines are shorter, as for the water parks, I'm from the northeast so we swim when it 50 out...lol

In the last 10 years I haven't turned off my A/C till after Halloween! If given the choice I'd go in October rather than August.

They usually do maintenance/refurbishment in the fall but they never close both parks at the same time! TL is closed this year from Nov 1- Nov 30 and the rides from Oct 31 - Dec 31 but BB is open.

we stayed at SSR last October 6-14. We thought the weather would be great and we could enjoy MNSSHP. It was so hot for the entire stay. Everyone around said it wasn't normal being in the mid 90's and humidity off the charts everyday. Kids had a hard time with the heat. We swam every night to cool down from day long trekking in the parks. What I don't like about that time of year is the closing of MK due to MNSSHP. We love MK so I hate that I don't have the option of going there on any given night without having to pay the extra $. That being said, my wife and I are heading to WDW in 26 days for F&W. I will make it to MK a couple of days but this will be our last trip in October for a while. We like mid to late April, first week of May.

We have been to the F & W festival Columbus weekend for the last 3 years and it has been hotter and very humid than when we go in July!!!
