hey, can anyone tell me what its like there in may? is it a pretty crowded time to go? im going the first through fifth this of year- i was also looking for more info on the new celebrations they are doing in may- will i miss them by going so early? i know the magical express starts may 5 (go figure) and that there will be a new pal mickey, but i dont know when it will be available. am i going to miss all the new stuff?? thanks to everyone who has been soo helpful! i started with only one question (thinking i had already done my research), and everytime i get a reply it stems a new thread about something i hadnt even though of! by the way- how do you put a countdown bar in? thanks again!

We went in May 2004 and had a great time. At MGM they have Star Wars Weekends, and in May-June is the international flower festival. Some of the plants were so gorgeous!

May is a great time to go, we had so much fun. But remember, it's still pretty hot in May. We thought if we went in May we would get there before the hot FL summer hit... We were wrong it was over 100 degrees the day we went to Epcot. Regardless of the heat, it was a beautiful time to go!

thanks! any more tips would be great, or must sees! i really hope we will be there for a star wars weekend, my husband and i are both huge fans!!

BTW, forgot to mention that it was my first trip last May. You can see our trip photos at http://www.gavin-liam.com.

My favorite park was MGM. There was so many great things going on there, cool shows, etc. I say don't miss Beauty & the Beast- the Stage Show. It was my very favorite thing we did there! Our boys really liked the Voyage of the Little Mermaid A LOT and we hardly ever see anyone mention this attraction. Maybe because it is older? I don't know, but it's a great sitdown show and the kids love it!

May has got to be my favorite time of year to go to WDW. We love the weather and we don't think it's majorly crowded. It doesn't rain too much. But what we did find was that MK closed at 7pm (that seemed too early for us). I heard that they close a lot later in June, July and August.

7pm? thats pretty early... does anyone know wha times the other parks close? thanks!

This will be our third May in a row. Love it. Kids are still in school, but weather is warm enough (but not stifling) to enjoy the pools and water parks. Crowds have been low in the past, but we're prepared for more people this year with the Celebration kick off May 5th, MYW Packages, and Tourism seemingly up this year, etc.
I can't remember when the parks closed last May so it must not have been a problem for us if they closed earlier than usual. I do know that Epcot and MGM stayed open at least until Dark for the Fireworks, and MK also stays open for Wishes, but I'm pretty sure they didn't do Wishes every night we were there. Anyway, May hours should be posted on the Disney site when they come out.

The hours s/b out March 1. Keep in mind that the 50th celebration kicks off on May 5. This might alter the hours from last May. There is also EMH. I knoe there is alot to consider. I am going by last years times to make my PS's but I am sure some of these will need to be changed if hours posted are different.

 :wave2: princess: princess:

MGM and Epcot was open until 9pm. Wishes was on Saturday nights in May and I remember that clearly (we arrived that night so we missed it). We went to MK on a Sunday and that may have been the issue why it closed so early. I read that Sundays are a good time to go to MK in May...anyone have a different opinion?

geez... im going to see if we can change our airline tix, but i doubt it... it figures that it all starts the day we leave! it wouldnt be so bad if we were going now, or in april, but leaving the day it all starts? big kick in the butt :earboy2: oh well, i know well have the time of our lives no matter when we go.

Stich- we will be at pofq about the same you will be! Be sure to wear your lime green! we may see you there! :)

Usually, May is great time to go! We are hoping that it is not TOO crowded this year due to the celebration!

Amen to that. But, May will be less crowded than any time between now and May. I can promise you that. Now is the busy season, Presidents Week, Spring Breaks, Easter, more Spring Breaks, Grad Nights, etc.

If you're driving, can we call you if we forget something? Hopefully, you could swing by our place in Aiken and pick it up. :smooth:
Look for a happy family of four with curly lime green ribbon on the handle of their stroller. I'll probably have a Carolina hat on, UNC that is. We're originally from the NC coast.

Oh yeah, we'll be here, hiding from the tipsy :drinking1 drivers (just kidding). You know, we've been here 3 years and have yet to attend the Steeplechase. And I believe we live within walking distance. Maybe this year. :earboy2:

PM me if you go ... we will have mini-dis-horse meet! LOL! This is only our 2nd year and I think we are only invited b/c our ds. We seem to get lots of new social invites b/c of him! LOL! :teeth:

I've been reading and reading - as we go to Disney in May 2005, and I'm so excited!
Does anyone know if the Pal Mickey is worth it?

:sunny: May is a great month to go to WDW. This will be our 4th time going in May. I will admit the last week of May gets more crowded, but any other week during May is wonderful.
BTW...I'm a SC native, Winthrop grad, Clemson fan and now a Nashville resident and VOLS fan! :cool1:
:hourglass 84 more days to BWV!

BeadyLady...Last year we rented a Pal Mickey for our 6yo DD and she loved it in the beginning. She did get tired of holding it so I took over. We thought he was cute, but we really didn't get alot of information from him. We probably are not going to rent another one this year, being we've already experienced him already, but if you have never rented one before, I would say do it. People are different. One person may really get a kick out of him, where other's don't!! Who knows, when we get there, my DD may say, "Can we rent Pal Mickey again?". If so, I'll more than likely say, "Sure". ::MickeyMo

Does anyone know about the week before Memorial Day Weekend? That's the week we'll be at WDW and we leave for home that Sunday before Memorial Day. Will there be lots people that week before the holiday weekend, or will it still be "okay?"

Linda
