Hi! I am new to these boards. I have a question. I am going to Disney World August 19 - August 25. Is this a very crowded time? Also, my husband is allergic to Electromagnetic Fields (I know that this sounds strange!) He is not always able to eat at sit down resturants. Is it possible to dine at sit-down restuarants without ADRs at that time of the year. We have two boys (Ages 6 and 8) and have made two character meal ADRs but I am hesitant to make too many and then show up and my husband not be able to eat at that restuarant. We have the dining plan. Also, I had read somewhere that you are able to use a table service meal as a counter service meal. Does anyone know if that is true? We would use that only if my husband couldn't eat at many resturants.

Thanks!

Kim

HI Kim

August should be a little slower as the floridians should be going back to school at that time. There is always fastpass. As for the couple of sit down dinners just do those for the time, And if your husband does ok, then make more when you are done there. If you are staying on property you can make reservations down at the lobby. If not you can call 407-wdw-dine. As for the counter service I don't know much about that. My father always pays. :)

Good luck and Have a great time. Bring a bathing suit it will be toasty down there.

The friends we traveled with in March used a leftover table service meal for a counterservice in March with no problem

Welcome to the DIS!!

We went to WDW in August last year, and enjoyed that time of year much more than when we used to go in the Spring or early Summer previously, it seemed that it was just not as crowded, even with the free dining! We had such a great time last year that we are going again this August, from 8/17-8/24, and free dining again!!! :thumbsup2

As far as your ADR question, I think that if there were not free dining happening at that time you might get by without the ADRs in advance, but I've been reading that because of the free dining packages that all the reasonable times for dining at WDW for table service places get pretty booked up. You could always make the ones you really care about trying, and if you find it's not working out you can always cancel any that you wish through guest services. They don't charge your dining plan for the meals until you actually "pay" at the end of the meal, so there's no harm in having your ADRs and then cancelling if you need to. :)

I'm can't imagine they would mind you using your TS credits for CS meals, it would actually be a good deal for them :goodvibes, but don't they let you use 2 TS credits (each) for a character meal??? If this is the case I would think it would be a better deal for you to use your TS credits for those rather than for the CS meals?????

I have already made my ADRs for our upcoming trip, and had to take a time I didn't really care for at one place, so I think there's truth to the fact that it gets filled up at the preferred times :confused3

I truly hope you have a wonderful vacation !!!! :cool1:

We went in August 2004, before the free dining plan, but the crowds were reasonable and the queues were not too long, except for the MK on week-ends.
