hi everybody,
today in P.E., i hurt my ankle, the doctor said it would be best to go in a wheelchair to disney world. he said it was an overexxageration, but that it would be best. so, has anyone else ever gone in one? i dont know whether to be happy or not. do you get to be in the front of the line? i dont know how its gonna be. we are leavin thursday afternoon. and its just my timing that i get hurt now. so i think i tore a ligament and i had to have an x-ray. i hope i didnt do worse. so, wat will it be like in a wheelchair. i mean i can walk some times. but ? wat will it be like?

Do it you get to the front of the lines and your off your feet...and when getting on buses you get on first

Check out the board "Disney with Disablities".

My mom has been to Disney multiple times in a wheelchair. No you don't get to go to the front of the line..but you do sometimes, depending on the ride get to use the fastpass line. Like for IASW, you use the fastpass lane because it's big enough for wheelchairs to wheel through.

It's not that much different though.

I'm not sure about other rides..I remember for POTC, my mom parked her wheelchair by the strollers and walked in.

No you do not. And while you may get on first, you get off last.
I did DLR in a scooter, and the only reason why I got to the front of the line was because I was a Make A Wish kid.

OP - Get A Guest Assistance Card (GAC). This will prevent you from going through the actual line, instead of a special line for wheelchair users. IT IS ONLY MORE ACCESSIBLE, it will NOT get you to the front of the line.

whenever we go with my grandma we always were put through the fast pass line or the exit and had to wait maybe 10 minutes. This was also though because she had an actual handicap pass and can barely walk from the exit/stroller line to the ride and back...Or if she does it take forever!! But again there is no guaranteeing it. I hope you feel better! And defiantly use a wheelchair. Using crutches around is no fun...

I say, do it. WDW is a ton of walking. While I'm not injured, I found myself out of breath and sore most of the time.

my brother went in one one time and he was alright with it we got to the front of the lines on everything and it was pretty awesome acctually

thanks,
ya we havent gotten the call from the hospital yet so we are still waiting to see if it is broken. i can walk, it just hurts. disney IS alot of walkin, i agree, so i hope this will be a good thing cause i always have sore feet.

DO IT!!!

Apparently, my family always goes when everybody in a wheelchair goes, and they always get a head of us. One time, on POTC, they filled up a 3 boats with wheelchair people and their families before letting others on.

And even though you get off of the bus last, that really isnt a long wait. The long wait is waiting in the line to get on the bus.

I would say do it, if you actually NEED a wheelchair. My mom sprained her ankle the day before we left, and decided to rent a wheel chair since it so much walking. Since I am guessing you are under 18, you will not be allowed to rent an electric one, so somebody in your party is going to have to push you. I know from having to push my mom just from the hotel to the buses, and the buses to the wheel chair rental place, that WDW is made of hills. So just keep in mind that somebody will be having to push you around.

Also you don't necessarily get front of the line access. You sometimes have to wait in line to a certain point, then go through the fast pass or singal rider, sometimes you get to the front of the line, sometimes you have to wait through the whole line. & at shows, plan on being seated in the back for the most part.

& even though you are first on the buses, you are last off the buses, and you have to deal with tired people giving exasperated sighs, or stares when they see a wheel chair approaching the bus line. I experienced this numerous times with my mom and it got very annoying on how rude some people can be.

Oh I was actually in a wheel chair one of the first times I went, but since I was only 5 or 6 [I had a broken ankle..] I don't really remember what it was like. I remember the characters gave me a lot of attention :goodvibes

ya, we are renting one before we go. we are leavin tomorrow after school! so we are just gonna put it in the trunk. we had to switch the floors of the hotel though. since it is one without an elavator. i got the results back today and i have a really bad sprained ankle. i have a huge raised bump but it is startin to turn black and blue. so i am gonna try and walk sumtimes. and i hope i dont get lots of dirty stares cause i know wat its like standing in line forever and then a wheelchair comes along. so i hope not lots of people will be there since i have seen pics and its not like that.

its gonna be great.. that happened to my mom 5 years ago, and we were able to cut into all of the lines.. towwards the end of our trip she did not seed the chair, but we kept it with us, so that we could cut all the lines!

oh wow! :guilty: 2 summers ago, I had fractured my ankle and it was right around the time when my parents and I had planned our trip to WDW!!! So, we went to the doctor and she told me to just try and "take it easy"!!
