Disney World in 1 day

My parents and i will be travelling to DisneyWorld for a day. i know its too short a time.i need some suggestion and tips. out of 4 theme park which one should i visit ? and inside that what should i must see and skip..help please.

Although there's something in EVERY park that I love, if I only had one day it would definitely be Magic Kingdom. Touring plans for only adults would include the following: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (if you're into coasters and drops), Fantasyland (especially PhilharMagic), Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise (better at night), Country Bear Jamboree, (place to rest), Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, and Tomorrowland Transit Authority.
You also want to watch the evening parade and fireworks. It's also imperative that you arrive 30 minutes ahead of opening to see most of the shows and attractions.
Just get a park guide and attraction schedule before going if possible (on line) to
do a little homework to save even more time. Good Luck and remember that you probably will not be able to do it all in one day, so don't forget to stop and smell the roses!!

I completely agree. When we have an extra day on our vacations, we always choose Magic Kingdom. Be sure and utilize the fast passes! They are a wonderful time saver.

...not to throw a wrench in, but... it's all adults? As much as I do love MK, my favorite park is Epcot. Have you scoped out each park to see which one appeals to you the most on paper?

If you've never been, you have to start with Magic Kingdom. It's the ultimate "Disney" experience, and will give you that Disney feeling you can't get anywhere else.

Magic Kingdom is a must IMO

My first instinct is to say go to Magic Kingdom! However, as you are all adults, you might like Epcot better. So I would strongly suggest you go to www.disneyworld.com and determine which park would most attractive to all of you. MK is the best introduction, and is of course the very essence of Disney magic. And by the way, I have always gone off-season on my 3 visits, and have had not trouble hitting virtually every attraction at any park I went to!

It doesn't look like anyone's responded to your question about fast passes, so quick run down:

Fast Passes What Are They?
They are a 'reservation' for a spot in line, when they are printed out they provide a time frame in which to return. They allow you to enter a separate line in which there is very little to no wait. Think of it as calling a head to make reservations at a restaurant, there may be a little wait, but not nearly like the wait of just showing up and hoping for a table.

How Do I get them?
The rides that have Fast passes, have a sign saying 'Fast Passes' head that direction and you'll see a large box. You enter your park ticket, which the machine reads, then it gives your ticket back and prints a fast pass. The machine prints 1 fast pass per park ticket so for 3 fast passes feed the machine 3 park tickets, one at a time.

attn: There is a certain time frame that you must wait before getting another set of fast passes, to know what that time frame is check your fast pass as it will be printed on there.

If you have any other questions, please ask, these boards are very helpful and full of great information.

Oh, and btw, I love Epcot... but for a first timer you've got to get that 'Disney Feeling' and there's nothing like seeing the castle, characters, and the few attractions designed/conceptualized by Walt himself (Carousel of Progress)

Generally I would say Magic Kingdom as well for a first-timer, but it may depend upon your interests.
What day are you going?
Once when we only had one day (not our first time mind you) we did Hollywood Studios...it was New Year's Eve and it was spectacular!

MK 100%. Even if it is only adults. There is nothing like the magic of seeing the castle for the first time and the night time prades and fireworks over the castle.

I would say Magic Kingdom also. Get there before opening so you can get a head start on things. What I would do is send one person to get fastpasses(they need all the tickets) for Space Mountain, while everyone else heads to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. When the fast pass person gets here, ride BTMR and then ride Splash Mountain.

Important about fast passes(just learned this before our recent trip)--you can get another fast pass as soon as your return time starts, even if you have not used the FP yet. So....if you have another ride you want to get a FP for(I would suggest Jungle Cruise), get that and maybe ride Pirates of the Caribbean before you even use that first fast pass.

I agree that MK is the way to go. Be cheesy for a day and do all the kiddie rides. Let your inner child celebrate for a day.

We actually do this. We stop for one day on the way to visit the inlaws in Ft Meyers. We did the magic kingdom one year. Last year was epcot, and for us it was a waste. Would of preferred magic kingdom again. We've never been able to stay for the night parade cause we still have to get to ft myers that night and dh is pooped. But we take some snacks and have snacks and fruit at 11am, and have dinner around 3pm. We like doing it this way. have fun.

Mickey's philharmagic is awesome. Haunted mansion, space mountain are all a must. Just enjoy yourselves, do what you want.

First visit for all of you and only one day? I would definitely say Magic Kingdom. What day are you going? You should call the Disney Dining line and book a meal at say Crystal Palace. You will want to have a break for the day so a table service meal would be important for just such a break. Plan to arrive at least 1/2 hour before opening and plan to stay till the park closes. Crystal Palace is a buffet style meal and will be sure to please all of the tastes in your party. It is also a Pooh character meal so lots of fun for everyone. The characters come to each table and will sign autographs and pose for pictures. If you are going to have a long day I would suggest a late lunch or early dinner. The day you are going will determine what time the park will close and will also determine if the Spectomagic parade will be presented that evening. Wishes fireworks are every night but the parade, at this time of year, is only a couple times a week. Check the park hours for the listing of what nights the parade is presented. Don't forget the afternoon parade at 3:00 as well. Rides I would do would be the Fastpass rides (space mountain, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain(depending on temperature of the day),Jungle Cruise (disney classic). Also, see the Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion. In Fantasyland do not miss Mickeys Philharmagic. Must sees there also are Peter Pans Flight and Its A Small World (another Disney classic recently refurbished). Pirates of the Carribean and Jungle Cruise are located in Adventureland. Just put a bit of research into your day and you will do fine. Whatever your group decides to do I hope you have a blast.

I have to add my vote for Magic Kingdom. It IS Disney!
My fav rides: Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan's Flight. I am not a fan of the Jungle Cruise.

A good way to judge what most people love is to see which rides have Fast Passes- those are the most popular.

I would also suggest that since you only have 1 day, sont spend a lot of time in restaurants. Grab something at one of the counter services and sit and people watch for a bit to get your rest in.

Definitely get a park guide to see performance times and special events.

We live about two hours away so often will make a "surprise" day trip and it can be a great time. I would definitely agree with MK for the magic experience, but Epcot has a special air of relaxation all it's own.

Whatever park you do, don;t try to plan it but rather have more of an overall vision of what you want. It is actually amazing how much you can see if you don't hold to a must do schedule. We have found that by always keeping a fast pass running for something big and then just working around the parks, skipping big lines, we can often still get most everything in. the lines have a tendency to cycle. That 3 hour line at Splash Mountain in the morning can be only 30 minutes in the evening.

Figure out what experince you want and the forum here can give you lots of great advice for best ways to maximize that park.
