Disney World for Thanksgiving week

We have never been during Thanksgiving week and I am seriously considering it for 2016. Can someone please tell me what to expect? What are the crowds like? We would be there all week and we are not big on Turkey day traditions in our family so it would be nice to try something new.

We have done annual family trips since 2009. That was our Thanksgiving trip. It's only because we had gone previously in low crowd times that we ever decided to return, LOL.

It was by far the worst crowds we have ever experience in all of our trips. From the Saturday up through the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, it was ok. But when that Wednesday came around through the Sunday after Thanksgiving, it was crazy! I mean 300 minute wait for Soarin' crazy.

We always go the week of Thanksgiving but we leave the day before due to what the previous poster stated. The few days leading up to Thanksgiving day are decent as far as crowd levels. However, the two or so days leading up to it... well let's just say the MK looks like someone kicked an ant hill!

We found it manageable when we went. Granted it was our first trip so we knew no other time as far as crowds. We did do MK twice by the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and didn't return until the Saturday after. We went with the recommended parks and had a plan. We even enjoyed our day in Epcot when it was a 9/10 level.

I'm thinking of doing it again just because we have done 3 summer trips since then and I'd really love to see the decorations again and I would rather schedule it around a school break so my children only miss 2 days and I only have to use 24 hours of vacation as opposed to 40 or more.

I've heard a variety of different opinions on this. Some say it's not too bad. Others say terribly crowded. We are going the week before and the week of Thanksgiving this year. I have only been when the parks are not crowded...so this will be an experience. I'll let you know after my trip how I make out!

We have gone twice for Thanksgiving. We make Thanksgiving day our down day/pool. If we went to a park I would pick AKL. We did the last seating for Bomas for breakfast, they serve ham. then we eat a late supper in our room, dvc with kitchen. Eat on the balcony. I would do it again.

We have gone once for Thanksgiving. It will be very crowded on Thanksgiving day but the days prior and after are not bad at all.

We've only been to WDW once, mid November 2013. This year we're coming for Thanksgiving this year - 11/21 to 11/27 so our son will only have to miss 2.5 days of school. A little nervous about the crowds but super excited to be there during the holidays. I'm sure it will be awesome- We'll be in Disney!

We were there this past Thanksgiving week, Saturday-Friday, and didn't think it was that bad. Maybe it was because we went to the recommended parks (including AK on Thanksgiving day) and had a good touring plan. We plan to go back for Thanksgiving in 2016!

We followed EasyWDW's recommended park days and had a great time. Sure, it was crowded, but it was an AMAZING way to spend Thanksgiving week. MK was open very late every night and we were able to ride everything we wanted at all the parks without exorbitant waits. We had so much fun that we're returning for Thanksgiving week this year too.

Been twice and I feel like crowds are comparable to summer but without all the heat. We also follow EasyWDW recommendations for best days, and used Thanksgiving itself as a day off.
