On the day we are in port I planned on getting back on the ship after clearing customs to catch up on work while I have phone service. Is this possible or is there a certain amount of time you have to spend off the ship before they allow people back on after clearing customs? Thanks!

Just want to make sure I understand your question. I take it you are on the Magic sailing from NY and have a stop at Orlando as one of your port of calls. If so, you don't have to get off the ship at all, we stayed on it when we went to Jamaica. We leave our phones off during the cruise, so don't know about service.

On those cruises all passengers must get off the ship in PC to go through customs. Those who wanted to reboard were only off for about 20 minutes. The ship was pretty empty when we did it in October, less than 100 people stayed on board.

OK, that's interesting. Why do they make everyone get off for those cruises and not others? Don't the passengers go through customs when they first get on the ship?

Because of going from the U.S. to a foreign port then coming back into the U.S., weird Government rules. I’m sure @PrincessShmoo could site the exact law, I’m too lazy!!

I don't know WHY, but for B2B cruises that are debarking/embarking in a US port, the law says that the ship must "zero out". Everyone off, before anyone can get on for the next cruise.

If the turnaround port is a non-US port, typically, they may or may not require you to actually debark the ship to check in again.

That’s awesome! We are going to Disney in April so we didn’t feel the need to go again in November!
